Quick one for you folks as I can't seem to find anything on the subject.
My front windscreen seal seems to have spread away from the glass and today I've scraped most of the old sealant/adhesive (which seemed to have been joined by a fair bit of dirt over the years) using a toothbrush & scrubbing brush.
I was going attempt to use some Granvilles black sealant/adhesive that I bought from Halfords this evening sometime tomorrow if it's fair.
Has anyone had to do similar, or can offer me any advice?

Thanks for responding mate, I did have a fair bit of condensations at times through the coldest part of the winter, but I don't think there was any on the floor, it was on all the windows though

Well, further to my first post. When I have been able to over the last few days, I have attempted to put some Granvilles black silicone sealant under the windscreen seal.
Not mega happy with the results, but whilst doing so realised the windscreen doesn't seem to have been fitted correctly. The seal at the bottom two corners doesn't fit the full depth of the recess, which leads me to believe that is why the windscreen is spreading away from the seal.
I dread to ask if there is any likelihood of obtaining a new seal, and the fitting is not likely to be cheap either.
Has anyone reading this been down this road, or is able to give me any advice?

How much did they charge you if you don't mind me asking, and was that recent?

Thanks not sure even if I had AA cover, that unless I'd broken the glass that they'd look at the seal

Just say you need a replacement. In your case though it might be a lift-out and reseal job. You might claim on insurance and pay the excess but they'ds probably increase your premium

Well with accolades like that, I'd be pretty certain he'd do a top job. Thanks again mate P.s, were you on the Punto Mk2 Forum by any chance???

<backontopic> Will windscreen replacement on your insurance cover rear windows? I noticed my rear window seal is curling away from the bottom corner of the window. That seal is simply stretched round the glass Chris, the screen itself is separately bonded in place so it is more cosmetic and anti wind noise than keeping out water. On mine it is the top corners that have lifted. If you do want to try to refit it, heat the rubber in very hot water to make it more elastic, it's easier to stretch it round with 2 people as well.

I only had a pinto briefly in the early 00s. How many ponies did that pull then Typo. But the punto was not a rapid car. Very easy and predictable to drive though. The 126 I remember was a massive 27bhp and could manage 60mph......just. To keep it on topic, the 126 had leaky window seals and rusty corners to the frame as a consequence. Fairly easy to pull them out and stick some new ones in.
