No it really is an MX-6. The MX-3 was smaller with a 1.8 V6, if you were lucky. There were smaller engines too.

What surprises me is how cheap the RX8 is these days. And yes I know they require above average maintenance (amongst other things) but still, it looks like there are some serious bargains to be had.

The later R3 version is supposedly more reliable but still a thirsty beast. Mine used to regularly see 14mpg That oil or petrol?

I'm biased having an RX7, but I do like the RX8 too.
The 8 handles very well indeed, and has usable back seats for little ones, i.e. can be a daily driver. Yes they use fuel (not as much as the 7), but rebuild costs are the same as some routine servicing items on other performance cars.
