"How to..." switched live feed for radio #1601607

Unfortunately, I can't post in the How to section, so have been advised to post here and kindly ask mods to move for me.

This is a How to...fit a switched (ignition) live feed for the radio.
It can be considered an update or alternative to the present How to.

1. Remove radio.
2. Remove centre console, as detailed in a previous How To.
3. As suggested in previous posts easiest/best ignition switched feed is from the cigarette lighter. This has three wires. The switched feed is a thick red wire with a yellow trace (stripe). This can be removed from the back of the ciagrette lighter or can be found in the loop of wires to the right of the lighter. Shown in pic.

Picture shows the loop of wires with the red/yellow pulled out of the bundle and a terminal block inserted. Space is tight so I used a terminal block and heatshrink, but there is just enough space to get a proper crimp tool in there. The foam wrapping to the wires has been secured with tape.

4. You now have a 12V ignition switched feed. Insert an inline fuse, 7.5A or 10A is usual for a radio.

5. You will now need to connect the 12V switched fed from your radio ISO to the feed you have just created. I struggled to find a diagram of what the different wires in the coupe ISO block represent. Turns out they are pretty standard apart form the double permanent 12V. Picture below shows the coup ISO block.

http://www.fiatcoupeclub.org/forum/imagepopup.php?image=http://imgur.com/JUfS46y

Black - ground
yellow/black - illumination (dim radio when lights on)
red (thin)- permanent 12V

red/orange (thick) - permanent 12V
red/green (thick) - amplifier

All of these should join up corretcly to standard ISO apart from the thin red which you need to replace with the switched feed created above.

With a safety pin remove the wire, usually red, that runs from the back of your radio into the female ISO block that you will connect up with the male ISO block from the coupe. This red wire should then be connected to the new switched feed.

Replacement is the reversal of removal.

Thanks. Note that not all models have ignition switched cigarette lighters, so you need to make sure in advance.

Nice write up, however none of the photo links work when I copy and paste.

Should the switched feed possibly be connected to the thick red and orange wire with the small one left constant as the memory back-up? I've just wired it as the instructions above and the stereo switches on and off fine with the ignition but doesn't remember any of the settings (tone, clock etc). Just want to double check my logic before I pull the stereo again as it's a tight fit and the centre panel is pretty delicate on these. It's a Blaupunkt Calgary headunit.

Thanks in advance!
