Just to report I got 39mpg on the last tank, which was a trip to Brands Hatch and back and more besides. Including motorway speeds.

I am very impressed.

This is a VIS with a Flea remap. I also got similar during the journey down to Turin.

Makes running a non turbo a viable proposition for daily commuting......

driving

Nice...

My 20VT achieves between 23 and 32 depending upon how much fun I have lol, after minimal mods - GTEC 1 chip.

When my 16vna is back on the road it will be good to compare that.

I once got 43mpg over 375 miles from my 20VT (was modded to about 400bhp at the time)

However, this was just an experiment and involved slipstreaming the trucks on the A38 / M1 / M18 / A1 all the way from the Midlands to Newcastle and back. It was exceptionally boring (bordering on the dangerous as it was sleep-inducing) - I wouldn't want to repeat it

Worst I've seen was 7.9mpg from a whole tank shocked That tank wasn't at all boring.... driving

39mpg from a VIS at "normal" speeds is very good and shows it is running sweetly

Folks, managed 38mpg driving from North Yorkshire down to Dover via the A1. Mines a standard 20vt and that was a mixture of 50 to 70mph (depending on volume of traffic) plus some occasional 'accidental' pressure on the throttle to alleviate distance fatigue. Not as good as my passat TDI at 65 mpg, but it is a dull and dirty diesel.

We just did a 700 mile round trip to Devon and from the 1st tank it returned 33mpg, and the 2nd tank which was coming home and less traffic on the M5, i am currently at 403 miles and the light came on this morning!

If driving at a steady 70mph for a period of time i think the Coupe does very well indeed! I'd rather have low 30's MPG in the coupe than 50+mpg in anything else! cool

mine is a 20vt with 154k on the clock too!

What tank capacity are people using (old question probably)?

Mine typically takes 50 litres from orange light coming to orange light coming on - its a 20vt

On a full on open pit lane I do about 3 tanks in a day.
I try to call it a day after 2tanks though.

I'm off the Castle Combe on the 8th Sept. driving

In case you were wondering, the method I use for mpg is to brim the tank and reset the trip meter. Drive for "X" miles, then brim the tank again and write down the litres used. This is then compared against the mileage. This is the only reliable method as far as I know. I can usually get 470 miles to a full tank.
