I have a small rust patch on the passenger side inner sill at the hinge end which needs welding. To repair it will require the black plastic Fiat scuff plate (if that's what it is called?) removing. It is held on with 5 screws which I have removed but didn't seem to free it up. Is it therefore stuck down with some sort of sealant and if so is there any tips for removing it without breaking it please?'

The kick plate is being held by a sticky strip underneath which forms a seal to stop water ingress into the outer sill, if you gently lift the outer edge of the kick plate you'll feel it release at which point slide the kick plate forward as there's also further small plastic tags on the underside of the kick plate.
