Coupe Coombe Crash I'm sure this has been on the forum before. I think the driver was told not to lift off for this particular corner. All on target for attending the track day, Toby? The driver was ok after the crash.

Yeah, that is a famous one. I've done the circuit before, so I'm hoping I'll remain on track... (see what I did there ) Looking forward to it. More than welcome to pop down and have a go in my Coupe Huw.... or bring the Alfa ! I'm not going to thrash it too much as the Coupe is my daily car these days.... oooh errrr.

That's an incredible offer, Toby. Thank you. It would be lovely to get behind the wheel of a Coupe again and hear the 5 pot sound again. But I'm working, and sod all others in my department are next week so I can't legitimately get the day off. I hope you have a lot of fun. I'm thinking of selling the Alfa as I drive it too quickly on the public roads and the thrills I get from wringing it out and finding the handling limits are tinged with a responsibility to the road using public that I may be neglecting. It may be time to lock my petrol head in the shed and spend more time being pc.
Have you the use of a video cam so you can share the experience with us?

Have fun tomorrow, Toby. Maybe rain in the afternoon to make things tricky. Just seen your vid, not seen it before. You're certainly shifting towards the end. Lovely car

Hi all The weather in the morning was truly awful. Standing water, aquaplaning and crap visibility. Lots of cars spinning on corners and I managed to lose the back end on the chicane. Luckily, contrary to the forecast it dried up in the pm so we got some great dry laps. The VIS held its own.... kind of I would like to get a more track focused car when finances and space allows. Will post vids soon.

When you at more track focused, do you mean quicker , better brakes, or better handling? A 20vt?? Kerr had his up for sale recently..... Sounds like you had a lot of fun. What cars that were there impressed you most, after yours of course. Glad you didn't need the track day insurance

Hats off to the MG Q type who braved the morning rain, then went out on track in the pm. Did well for such an old car.
The Clio 182 performed well, as did a large Saab estate V6 turbo. The usual Scooby crowd were larging it up round the wet corners with their 4 wheel drive. There were some awesome spins and big "offs" but nothing too serious luckily. A race series MR2 did well, but did end up "mowing the lawn" in a big way.
Coupe of nice Lotus's there - Elise and Exige.
I think the car which impressed me the most was the V8 MGB GT, which did manage to overtake me (eventually). The handling was much worse than the Coupe as you'd expect, it was wallowing and bouncing all over the place, but he managed to hustle it round the corners really well.
As for track focussed car, I'd like a proper stripped down rear wheel drive beast with a roll cage.
