It's been a dramatic few days capped off by my 2008 Jetta TDI spitting it's turbo at speed!
My question to you is; is it worth replacing the turbo and taking a punt on a dead engine or just relegate it to the great scrapheap in the sky. Would be a shame as she's a beauty!

That's bad news pfoe. Not sure what to advise? My 1985 Jetta GT Special I suspect went skyward many moons ago! Still, I remember its great handling, build quality, Zender spoiler kit and special paint job with youthful affection.
Hopefully a positive solution will reach out to you.

Update!
Today I found out the engine still runs :-)
Bought a new car today. 2014 Leon FR tech for a bargain £8k
Now the question is; repair the turbo and sell on or sell as a repair.

Great shout on it being inexpensive to change. I could likely do it myself to be fair.
Also, sieving the oil is top of the list!
