Hi all, been around coupes for years now with my uncle - paul_v owning a few very nice examples including this L.E I have managed to pull his arm and persuade him to sell me, extensive history and very well maintained by Paul & Steve ( also a forum member )
Looking forward to learning the know and keeping this a very well kept example.

Hi bud that’s very handy to know,
It’s pretty much standard apart from a stainless exhaust system, flea map, I didn’t want a heavily modded one as I want something that will hopefully hold its value and a good example. It’s known on here so that’s why I opted to purchase it as well as the extensive history with it.

First run out last night and loved it only niggle is the bonnet cable isn’t working it’s like the new cable hasn’t got enough tension to undone is there any adjustment on the cable to tension it ? Cheers - Dan

You might find this howto useful

Better to get acquainted with it sooner than later in case it gives out on you at a very inconvenient moment...

I've managed to get it to tension up however I carnt get it to do the first pop when you pull the inside leaver, some one has to be on the bonnet lifting it as the other is pulling the cable if that makes sense ?

It sounds like the straight section of the spring - the bit you see in the hole when the bonnet's up - isn't being moved (pulled) far enough to the left to allow the first pop to occur.

If it's tensioned up as you say then you've likely got the grille off, so while you have, stick a spacer on the flange where the cable hoop goes around to give it a tad more tension, then try opening the bonnet.

Needless to say if it's over-tensioned the bonnet won't actually close properly, not something you want to run the risk of flying open, especially if you are tempted onto track..... blush

Awesome info, I've tensioned it up more for the time being, will have to have a deeper look at the weekend, the bonnet closes solid I've tugged it firmly to ensure it's locked into position, so I assume I'm safe?

Yep, pretty much trial and error.

Btw, if you go to My Stuff/Edit Profile you can add your model number to go under your forum name.....handy for anyone to answer questions.

Although I suppose the clue is in your forum name laugh

If you can't yank it up then you've likely got it in a safe position.

When oil has drained down into the sump. So cold. Turn the stick once or twice before removing to get a sure reading.

You can check the oil when warm providing you give at least 10 - 15 minutes for it to settle. I've mainly done it this way and the reading on the dipstick has hardly ever differed compared to cold.

Obviously there will be a slight difference as say to leaving it overnight but it will be very marginal in my experience.
