I'm not consciously tryiong to make the oddest request ever made to this forum but I think it may be heading that way. For reasons that are very boring/nerdy or possibly a combination of both (see below) I need to convert a small extract of a song into musical notes that i can then get a robot to play. The song is this one and it's only the chorus bit of "beep beep I'm a sheep, I said beep beep I'm a sheep" which is the first 3 seconds of the video that I need. For those not familiar with this particular gem I will warn you that you only have yourself to blame should you decide to bring it upon yourself to watch more than 3 seconds. The robot that I want to play the song can output tones (in Hz) and durations (in ms) so it's a list like below that I'm after. Tone1(frequency, duration) Tone2(frequency, duration) etc Musical notes would be OK in place of frequency as I'm sure I could look them up. I know there's a few people on here of a musical bent so wondering anyone could do this for me? I faff around writing plugins for Minecraft in my spare time, partly as we have a server here that my kids play on but mostly because it keeps my hand in programming and messing with electronics. I quite like being to link the virtual Minecraft world with real world electronics or other applications and had the idea to control a Lego robot from within Minecraft. Mainly because microWishy adamantly informed me that linking the two worlds was impossible, this has now become the most important thing in my life to achieve. I'm most of the way there, but as a bit of daft I'd like to be able to issue a command from within Minecraft that triggers the robot to play this song. I'm fine with all the programming bits but lack of musical ability is preventing me from knowing what notes I need to output hence this request.

Here you go These are the first 3 seconds as you requested. The top line of manuscript is the musical notation at two pitches, "A" in a low pitch and "B" an octave higher if so desired. The lower line gives you the note names and endeavours to attach the time-value of each note (tone). The "rests", i.e.where there are no words, are notated similarly. I daresay you can work out a duration system from that suits you. Hope this helps!

No worries Wish, and I don't need a piano for that Show off! I was always really jealous of my little brother's ability to hear a song and instinctively be able to just play it on his bass guitar. Good luck in your counter-child activity Hell yeah. I printed out what you gave me and showed it to miniWishy (who's a bit older and more technical) who laughed like hell as he knows it's going to happen and microWishy just rolled her eyes at me. She won't admit defeat yet but she knows she's going down. Secretly, she really wants me to do it but won't admit it (yet). I would have done it tonight but got embroiled in watching the finale of the bodyguard.

Yes, it was very good. I'm not really a big TV watcher (usually to be found fiddling with my laptop) so the big screen here shows whatever 9pm drama MrsWishy wants to watch so I've seen all the epsiodes up until tonight through half an eye but tonight made me watch with both.
