Well got onto the dyno this morning for what was meant to be 2 power runs - 1 at 1bar and 1 at 1.3 bar

Got the car up for the first run and all was well, on the first run (at an indicated 1 bar) was infact 16psi or 1.1bar the car made 215bhp (160Kw) at the wheels , based on a 15% driveline loss that would be 253hp at the flywheel at 1.1bar, the 15% is what the dyno shop told me, here is the graph.

Dyno Graph

Don't know what the torque curve means - can anyone help me convert it as I believe it depends on gearing

Fueling sat level at 11.0 which he said was a bit rich but O.K. - optimium is around 12-12.5 i'm told

Couple of points I notice is that the car has .9 bar at red line but can only hold boost to 4500rpm also that peak power is at 5200rpm even with my mods which I thought would raise it up the rev range

Mods list
3" full exhaust
Evo 6 FMIC - alloy plumbing
Straight induction apexi pod
Evo cars chip
Electronic boost controller

looks like a bigger turbo next

Anyway - after the first run the top raditor hose cracked and started spraying water everywhere, so looks like I will joining the pro alloy rad group buy

video below - the guy waving his arms at the end is the hose leaking

Put the link up for sound really and to see if I could post a video link - can someone let me know if it works - cheers

video link

Comments or advice always good

Cheers

On a stock turbo, 1.2 - 1.3 bar should be achievable, but only in the midrange - it would drop off noticeably after about 5,000rpm. Therefore it might give you a BIT more peak horsepower, but not a lot. However, it would probably fill out the area under the graph and make the car feel a fair bit faster on the road.

A bigger turbo should be good for another 20bhp quite easily - I'm sure Begbie will spot this thread and give you a recommendation or two.

Cheers nigel, my target is 300hp with the big turbo perhaps even a little more at 1.2bar or so

Think it is achieveable as 300hp is do-able with the larger integrale turbo and that is effectively what I will running

then see how long the pistons last.

300bhp on the integrale turbo is do-able (although i have read that 350bhp is achieveable with the turbo, i have never seen anyone produce the goods! but you will need to be running 1.6 - 1.7bar to achieve it without headwork, then with that much boost you will need an uprated headgasket (pref with seperate fire rings)

so begbie you reckon 1.6-1.7 bar for 350hp or 300? I'm assuming 350hp

Then we get into that MAP sensor issue over 1.5 bar and you reckon the pistons are only good for 320hp anyway right?

can take more than that can they not? plenty of tuned integrales around with all the usual mods minus going for new internals and putting out about 350 well the couple that ive known people to have did but thats only 2 , and one of them who is close a mate his head went then the turbo went after the head god fixed so got rid of it after he got the turbo sorted although i think it was a bit rough as he bought it quite cheap

Saint, no at that boost it will be around 300bhp and yes pistons are good for around 320bhp

Begbie, i'm using marcowinds car here as a benchmark but he has 297bhp at 1 bar using the evo 1 turbo he reckons and he has a standard motor other than a tubular manifold and big exhaust I think.

This is why I thought it is achieveable re his post in Rolling road forum.

yes of course it is standard officer

no, it's a 3inch system mandrel bent from the turbo dump pipe on, no cat, remus back box and two straight through resonators under the car.

Pleased to hear the video is working.

A resonator is just a type of muffler, it is designed to limit "resonanace" or drumming in the exhaust - hence the name.

It is basically a straight through tubular muffler with not much size difference between the internal pipe and the outside muffler diatmeter so just a thin section of muffling material around the pipe

Cheers
