My 16VT i bought last summer came with no keys and the ECU was missing I have decided to fit an aftermarket ECU Its by speeduino and i am in the process of soldering it together . Will update as i get the car up and running . Interesting and fun time ahead Speeduino is a low cost ecu management .

Ok i dont know how powerfull the Fiat weber ecu circa 1994 but would have thought the speeduino was much more modern/powerfull I have the lastest firmware Couple of things i like about speeduino it uses tuner studio same as megasquirt .I can also use VE Analyze Live and use a wide band lambda sensor . It has a rev limiter ,launch control and flat shifting .One downside it does not have a knock sensor capacity Update as soon as i fit it to my coupe

I have been on Ecumaster EMU Classic past 2 years, now moving to Ecumaster EMU Black. Both are awesome ECUs, would recommend for our cars.

I'm not sure I'd want to running a modified turbo car without knock sensors - to many variables that could cause pre-detonation

With my engineer's hat on - I do this sort of thing for a day job, though not ECUs - I do have a couple of concerns about the hardware design. I won't enumerate them in detail here: they won't make sense to most of you and it's possible they've been addressed in later designs that the one I saw -- but I don't like the way the designer has failed to address the handling of potentially nasty currents flowing around the grounds from the injector inductance, and I don't like the plug-in connector for the processor at all.

That said, I do like this kind of thing, and I'm impressed they're doing anything this complex with an AVR (unless they're using a lot of assembly code) -- I'd have been tempted to look at using something like an STM32 Arm Cortex part.

Although for comparison, the 16v/vt controller uses a 6805 - which is thick as a brick and based on a forty year old processor but does have a very trick timer chip bolted on, and the 20v/vt controller uses an even more basic processor, which has so little spare time when it's running that it can't keep up with serial communications at more than 2000rpm...

Aww, poor 16VT ECU getting no love The 16VT's Weber Marelli IAW P8 ECU is certainly getting on, but it's still extremely capable. From a performance point of view it's absolutely not worth going to the trouble and expense of swapping for aftermarket on anything but a true race car ...Or if your car has zero performance because it doesn't have an ECU in the first place!

The P8 can handle big power with ease, as proven by my own 16VT engine, currently making 440 bhp: It runs injectors with a flow rate of 760cc, a 3 bar MAP sensor and it daily-drives beautifully! Perfect idling and cold starting.

The WM ECU is very tunable. I can change pretty much everything useful; fuel/ign maps, map breakpoints, rev limits, boost control map - even things like battery voltage compensation and cranking fuel decay

One of the most important features is that it has a reasonable set of safety features; a proper boost limit map, air/coolant-based limits, knock detection. The only things it doesn't have are ALS, launch control or flat-shifting - although, I know that those have all been implemented in the past by people who are better programmers than I am!

Had a good look on the speeduino forum and found this . They do a knock control add on board . It was only on sale a few months before christmas .
