Wife captured a wasp flying about in our house last night!!!!

And I got stung by several wasps whilst working in the garden yesterday.

But a spray of insecticide sorted them out! Wish I had seen them first.

Aye, but I live in the Highlands of Scotland in the middle of our winter.

We had one in the house the other night when it was freezing. They hibernate in the house (found several in loft insulation) and the heating can wake them.

I've encountered several in our workshop in the last month or so. Very dopey and now - with regret - very dead.

Bound to be a female wasp (larger) trying to find an over-wintering spot

Why don't wasps bother pollinating flowers and making honey like bees do?

Because their attitude stings.

I thought I read somewhere that scientists have now realized wasps are just as important as bees in the chain of life etc.

Everything has its place in the great scheme of things!

Celery

Well of course celery.

Without celery, there would be no need for a belly-button in which salt might be kept while lying on one's back eating said celery.

So the presence of the belly-button implies that celery also has a place.

.....very thin story Neil, much like you would become if you ate celery all the time

Was your wife eating celery by any chance at the time she spotted the errant hymentopoteran?

Found another sleepy (big) wasp in our office this morning...
