Hi

I have a 20VT sat up which I need to get trailored to motor mech for a rebuild.

I have the Viper remote fob, however the keys are lost.

Is there a way of duplicating a key without the barrel, if not without smashing window and breaking steering lock is there another way of access.

I have remote fob, car battery is dead and the car has a massive steel under tray otherwsie I was thinking of connecting 12v to starter and trying to use fob,

Any ideas guys ?

Thanks in advance smile

Sounds like you'll need to break in to the car, either buy way of the boot through the reverse light or lifting the door of it's hinges.
Once in you'll still have issues starting the car though as you'll need the key/chip to disarm the immobiliser.

Probably easier to break the radiator grille to get at the bonnet release, then charge the battery so that you can use the fob to open the doors

You're still going to have problems moving the car though, as the steering lock will engage as soon as you move the steering wheel - you should remove the steering barrel first

I have a 20VT ECU and lock set in stock - only one key though (but that's still one more than you have.... wink )

If you go through the front grille, have a read of this first

opening a stuck bonnet

Thanks guys, I'll remove the grill, mine is mesh anyway smile

Nigel, the car is in Lichfield and I need to get it to Pauls,

Had a look through How To's but cannot find info on how to remove the key barrel, is this an easy process ?

Also Nigel, my cars heavily modded, will my mapped chip just plug directly into the new ECU ?

Removing the ignition barrel is only easy if you have a key - once you're into the car, you will need to remove all the steering column plastics and some of the electrics (stalk controls etc) and then remove the whole ignition switch assembly from the column - not a five minute job...

Yes - plugging your mapped chip into a new ECU should work fine
