Sales of second hand RS's have almost completely dried up, hugely frustrating grr Another downside of this is that I am again looking at the possibility of trading the A5 and ordering a brand new facelift rolleyes I don't really want to take that route, overly expensive, but there is some temptation to order my specification and become the Barnacle of the TTRS world. I do expect to keep my RS long into the future.

With the absence of RS's to view I have taken out a few other cars for a play. Today was another V6 F Type convertible. These are hugely desirable cars but they are just too big and have absolutely no luggage space. They sound absolutely fabulous but today just re-confirmed that the Jaguar isn't for us frown

Bob, how did the infotainment system in the new F type compare with the older model? If I recall correctly you weren't too impressed last time.

Hi Antony,

The car wasn't brand new, they punch a little bit above my top budget. This was a 2018 car with a couple of thousand miles on it but it was immaculate.

To be honest I didn't even play with the radio / infotainment system this time! The visit was purely to evaluate space and sadly on that point alone the beautiful F Type isnot even in the running. I would say that luggage and storage space has to be the Achilles' heel of the F-Type convertible. Apparently the boot has 200L of space and I'm guess they are including the almost unusable ledge that goes under the hood. The Abarth 124 is a listed as having 140L but it seems more useable. That said they are at best weekend cars frown

By comparison the TTRS Roadster offers 280L of flat totally usable boot space, which in unaffected by the roof too. Indeed, with the roof up there is even more space behind the seats, enough space for several shopping bags, handy for storing your last minute goodies from France before heading home laugh

At the end of February there was a stunning white RS for sale with 2K miles on the clock. Because my money was still tied up in a savings plan I didn't even go to view it. Not seen a single car since frown

If you are interested in Abarth 124, I can measure the identical boot on my Fiat 124, what do you need to fit in there? You can get custom luggage as well as a boot lid rack. And it's even cheaper to buy a Fiat and "chip" it to end up with ~200bhp like I have done smile

Hi Dave, thanks for the offer.

We did re-visit this as an option but this car we are after is mainly a Holliday car. These Holliday's are usually a two to three week tours with most stuff packed into two holdalls, this kind of thing.

Two of these bags slide right under, almost to the back of the seats so very similar to the MK1 Coupe below.

The TT really offers a huge amount of storage space for it's size.

You've got the right idea, except that I'd never buy an Audi.
