Just had a letter from Auxillis who say they are dealing with my insurance claim. Looked them up and looks like they arrange repairs at their network of bodyshops, so I am hopeful this means my Coupe will be repaired and not written off. I told Ageas there are two vis Coupes advertised currently for £3,500 and £3,700 so perhaps this has made them decide repairs would be cheaper after all.

It's frustrating how nobody seems to know what's happening because even the underwriters are underwritten.

If they do repair it (unlikely IMO, but fingers crossed), you could have a word with the body shop and ask them how much extra it would be to sort out the lacquer peel (at your cost). I did this and got a small patch of lacquer peel sorted at the same time as an insurance repair, and they invoiced me separately for a very reasonable cost.

EDIT: just to mention this was my previous car (blue), not my current one.. Just in case anyone looks up the history some time in the future!

I was fed up Footman James wanted £57 to close the policy. I had to switch to a new insurer because I scrapped my Alfa and so the Coupe is now my only vehicle and can't be insured as a classic. This accident happened on the last day of my Footman James policy. If it is a good payout it might even pay for the repairs plus plastidip all over. Every cloud an' all that ...
