Help. Where can I get a radiator? #1633056

I can't seem to find one anywhere.
I'm having the cam belt etc' done and my nearly new (plastic and metal) radiator is leaking so I might as well get that done as well.
It's a 20v turbo with aircon, does the aircon make a difference?
The cambelt kit is the Dayco one off ebay unless anyone knows any better!
Thanks in advance.

I bought the aluminium one off ebay - "Direnza" I think its called. Went in fine with aircon rad and seems to work well.

Cheers Clanger, sold out I'm afraid.
Best I can find at the minute £200 off advanced radiators.
That and £270 for cam belt kit before labour is getting ridiculous.
My daughter wants me to drop her at her prom in it on the 20th though!!

Is this a first?
You can't buy a 20vt radiator in England.

It's not just England. I had the standard one on order (in fact it still is) with a usually reliable motor factor here in France back in April and his suppliers came back saying there is no stock anywhere in France! They are advertised here online via all the usual outlets but when you inquire there is no stock, I checked again today. That's why I reluctantly bought the Direnza one from the UK.

There is no 20VT Valeo stock, this isn't something new as the last ones were sold over 12 months ago, Valeo were contacted and replied saying there's no plans to have any more remade atm so we have little choice other then the alloy units, presently one trader on the bay who's selling them for £250 each so a rather captive market you might say

Is that the one listed as being from China with free shipping? Looks like the one being sold as Direnza, that would make sense.

I wonder if a UK custom maker would do a discount on a job lot?

https://www.custommaderads.co.uk/

But at least AdRad still do them. £200 is steep though.

Thanks everyone, I need one for next week.
I suppose as its only a very small leak I'll have to use it sparingly but I HAVE to do the cambelt.
Is this the way it's going with these cars that there will be limited spares which will drive prices down until they become a true classic?

I phoned up Adrad today because there seemed to be two for the 20vt, gave him my reg and was told that they were only for the 16v.

Couldn't find any prices on the customaderads site but their work looks good. Similar on Ebay are about £300 I'm afraid. What do the competition guys use?

Nothing wrong with a re-cored radiator if it has been done properly.

16VT and X1/9 1500

We must all do our part for the planet.
I unplugged a row of electric cars that nobody was using.

I agree.
Hopefully I have sourced an old radiator that I can get tested/repaired/re-cored.
I'll update the post.

Turbos listed here but out of stock might be worth contacting to see if stock is replenished

Anyone know if it's the same radiator for the 20n/a?

Yes the N/As are relatively easy to get hold of. It's the turbo version which are like hen's teeth. Apparently the NA can be modded to fit, but it's not ideal.

I would not advise to mod the rad the flow will be different and most likely cause your turbo to run hot 🥵.

Speak the joe of country cruising he will sort you out .. the cheapest often works out to be the dearest

The quickest way round this is buy a 16VT rad which has the 12mm connection for the turbo and change the main bottom rad pipe for a 20v N/A so it routes correctly on to the water rail, you'll also need a 22mm fan sensor switch.
