Another "what car" but with a twist - it should be as soft and comfortable as possible Due to unexpected medical condition, I'm thinking about buying a temporary used car, budget up to 5.000gbp but could stretch. Only other request is 4 doors - it can be hatchback, saloon, wagon, old suv; petrol or diesel; slowness, bad handling, long-term reliability not important. It will be used in town and for short trips (max. 2h). Currently own Coupe 20vt on stock suspension (I find it ok out of town but crashy in town) and Lancia Delta (a bit softer than Coupe but not by much - leather seats are a bit hard), plan on keeping them both. The most comfortable car I owned / driven extensively was Alfa 156 with momo leather seats rolling on 15in wheels, but imagine there should be cars comfier than that... Citroen, Peugeot barges, maybe some Toyota or Koreans?

Hi. Maybe I wasn't very precise - by comfort I ment ride quality, city (potholes, speedbumps) and B-road. Motorway comfort, as in stability, road noise etc. not important. I've been driven in colleagues previous gen Merc E-class, AMG S-class, and previous and current gen 5-series, not impressed. Even worse, riding in the back of a 5-series sometimes makes me queasy. Any suggestion for a non-premium smaller (up to 4.5-4.6m) cars or crossovers? Eg. Citroen Cactus, Nissan Note, maybe some Toyota, Honda, Kia, Hyundai? Any oppinion on Merc 2nd gen A-class (last "raised" one), B-class, GLK; non R-spec Volvo?

The best seats I have sat in are Volvo and Saab. If you have back problems I can recommend the Backfriend Turns even the most uncomfortable seats into a nice places https://www.backinaction.co.uk/backfriendAgree 100%. Volvo S80 / S60 - then Saab a close 2nd. I've done 140,000+ miles in Saab 9-3's (vector / Aero seats) with lots of long business trips.

Don’t laugh
But in my opinion the best car seats I’ve sat in and I have driven a lot of different cars Both owned and rentals
Is a pt cruiser The seats are like sitting on your sofa
No laughing matter. For reasons too complicated to explain here, we recently bought a PT Cruiser. The seats are indeed comfy, but it is by some distance the most dynamically inept vehicle I've ever owned. The turning circle makes a 20VT look like a miniature London taxi. Reliability is also a little, er, suspect, in every aspect from electrics to suspension, via transmission. So, you may get to spend plenty of time in the comfy seats - waiting for the AA.

Might be too new to be within budget but the newer Hyundai Tucson, 2016 - on, rides well and has good seats. Definitely worth a test drive.
Btw, is that 5000 Pounds bought in the UK or actually 6000€ bought on the continent. My experience is at around this budget, the UK is dramatically better value. 6000€ doesn't buy all that much out here.

My wife had a V60 D3 which was a nice car, comfortable enough, but not supremely comfortable I wouldn't have said, but the cam belt slipped a few teeth and the inlet cam got trashed, ended up as a distress sale in the end. I'd recommend a Jaguar XF, but it's perhaps a little long at 4.96 m and perhaps too "premium"?

Hi. My actual budget is 10-12k €, I've "adjusted" budget to 5k GBP because I've seen UK used car values are dramatically lower than Croatia. Anyway, the budget is not fixed, and by this Thread I'm looking for suggestions what cars to try (arrange a drive). So far, I've shortlisted Mercedes B-class (w246 = after 2011, without Sport trim/suspension), Citroen C5 (after 2007, in trim with Hydropneumatic suspension), Renault Kadjar (on smaller wheels), maybe Hyundai Tucson (2nd gen - from 2009) and Volvo V40 (hatchback), V50 (older model) or V60 (maybe too big / posh / expensive). Keep them coming
