Hi all, whats everyones thought on this chip? http://www.turbonoz.co.uk/fiat-chips/TNTCHP00063.html

Claims an instant 40bhp with no other mods, Raises boost pressure to 1.35 bar
Boost no longer restricted in 1st & 2nd gear
Retains the factory-standard overboost safety feature
Finely tuned fueling & timing maps
Improved overboost maps

Anyone had any experience with these, seem very cheap or anyone have reccomendations?

Many thanks

There was a thread about this fairly recently here's my thoughts from it.

In the early 2000s Evolution Engineering (Barry Waterhouse) in London where the people to go to for a 16vt tuning they had developed an eeprom from the Lancia Evo. I'd run it on my own coupe for a number of years with very good power increase.

I think Paul Miller maybe contactable via Facebook and i think has an ebay listing for them though it will possibly be listed as Lancia eeprom and not fiat coupe.

Interesting Resso, would you personally recommend it? Is it as simple as removing the old chip, replacing it and connecting the ECU back up?

Many thanks

I saw an advert on Ebay for a chip with exactly the same claims, I think it was £40 and came from Portugal. My thoughts were it seemed too good to be true but I have no experience of it.
Is Flea still around?

Well boost is never "restricted in 1st and 2nd gear", so that's just silly... In fact the ECU has no idea what gear the car is in, lol!
Price is okay though. About the same price that I sell my own upgrade chip for.

Are you sure boost is not restricted in the lower gears . We had a 2007 Fiat Doblo 1.9 jtd that was stuck in limp mode Changed many parts on the engine and turned out it was the three wire speed sensor was faulty . Because the sensor tells the ECU what speed the Van is doing it roughtly knows was gear it was in .Does the coupe have a three wire sensor ??

On the 16VT the speed sensor is just for the speedometer. The ecu receives no speed data.

It works in the same way as the boost limiter on the 20vt, by monitoring how fast revs are rising. If revs rise too fast, then the ECU switches to a lower boost map.

For all practical purposes 99.9% of the time this only happens in 1st and 2nd gear, so it's become common to refer to the boost limiter in that way. Of course it's possible that boost is limited in any gear if for example the front wheels are off the ground, one or both wheels are spinning on mud or ice, or the car is being driven at full throttle down the world's steepest hill. Equally if you're driving up the world's steepest hill at full throttle in 2nd gear with a couple of sumo wrestlers in the back + half a ton of stolen nazi gold in the boot then most likely the boost limiter would not be engaged. smile

That's exactly what I found happened (even without the gold) laugh

Spotted it again, it's a Novitec 1 or 2, and is £19!

Hi, whats everyones thoughts on Voodoo tuning? 70euros and here are the details.

My chip raises boost to a peak of 1.4 bar, trailing to 1 bar. It also recalibrates the fuel and ignition maps to give strong, but safe power.

My chip is dyno proven to make 240 bhp and 282 lb-ft on a stock engine.

Thoughts!?
