Anyone tried to repair any sizeable bonnet dents?

Got one of those pointless repair system but been unsuccessfully to date....

Nope. The bonnet is double skinned so you won't be able to get PDR tools back there i'm afraid.
The only way is to do the conventional body shop way, which is to weld studs on the metal and use a slide hammer to pull the dents out..followed by some fillers and repaint.

PDR techniques can release a dent - often by gently tapping the crowns around the dent from the front through something soft - I used a thick wooden peg that I made out of 10cm of broom handle with very smooth ends and a normal hammer.
That dent won't come out completely but could be reduced and the surrounding area could be much better shaped so the filler will blend correctly.

Given the level of damage I would say don't bother save your time and any money and use a bodyshop, sourcing a used bonnet and paint if needed

As a bodyshop technician i would say get a good secondhand one if you cant do it yourself . Using pins wont get the panel out far enough You really need to cut the section out and reshape it and weld it back together . To cut out ,shape and weld back together and fill it about 6 hours labour then paint . 6 hours in an average bodyshop is about £50 per hour . Metal has a memory in if its damaged the longer its left damaged it wont go back to its original shape .

Thanks Rob, no idea how long the dent has been in the car - it was 'value add' from the previous owner!?! So I'm pretty sure the metal's adopted its new bendy shape by now...

I did see that (there is also a tatty looking gunmetal one with lacquer peel floating around eBay too)....thanks for the offer, I’m going to leave the bonnet for a bit and focus on the other jobs on the coupe for now. Unless a bonnet comes up in the same paint code as mine on eBay
