Hi, it’s been a while since I last owned a Coupe, but was wondering where are the go to places for Coupe maintenance, engine rebuilds and upgrades (turbos and associated parts)? Is it still Motormech, FC Performance, Roger Powerfiat etc, or are there a few others now?

Cheers Jules

Hi Jules

Motormech still works on Coupes quite regularly, but understandably, they don't make up the majority of work now. We've built a few Coupes with decent power output (350+ bhp) over the years, mostly using knowledge I've acquired during my own modding spree.

As far as I'm aware, Leighton at FC Performance still maps Coupes and I believe will also take work to build / mod engines

There's also John Cartlidge at Midland Car Servicing in Leicestershire - not seen much on the forum nowadays, but I undersand he's pretty active on Facebook

Finally, there's Joe Knight (CountryCruising) at FCSS in Herefordshire - he's probably the most Coupe-focussed of all the tame traders

Are you looking for another Coupe? I might know where there's a pretty quick one for sale.... ;-)

Hi Nigel, good to hear from you and thanks for the reply.

I may be looking at a project over the next 6 months, so have been looking at cars that I’ve owned in the past as potential suitors. The Coupe is high up there and I got to know them well during my time in ownership. I’m not to fussed on the aesthetics as that’s easily fixed, but more on refreshing engines and making them capable of being upgraded with stronger turbos. I’ve had a quick look on the forum but there is little current info on upgrade options, for example the cost to go with upgraded turbos and associated parts, and cost to rebuild or refresh an engine. It gives me an idea to work from.

I’ve seen your Current car and can remember your sprint blue 20VT very well at the various events I used to attend. Both superb examples. It’s almost a finished article and I ideally want something at the other end of the scale to start from scratch with, possibly.

I’m also looking a quite a few other cars from the past as potential projects and doing similar research. But the Coupe is a rare sight on the roads nowadays, and when I do see a nice one it still pulls at the heart strings.

Hi Begbie, hope you are well and good to see you are still on here. I recognise quite a few of the old names which is great to see they are still involved in Coupes. I owned my Coupe from around 2001-2003 I think but stayed on the forum for a while thereafter. I absolutely loved it and have occasionally dipped back into the forum recently to see how the Coupe world is. I’ve had a number of different cars since and been part of many other car forums (of which the odd ex Coupe owners appears). I’m approaching 50 next year so have always said I’ll treat myself to a project (ish) car. Something I can either revive or modify / improve. The Coupe fits the bill along with a few others.
