I did wonder if perhaps the red key was a "clone" (or "fake") and was perhaps made up to replace a missing genuine red key. If you want another spare blue key, can it be made a clone of the silver (or red) keys at a key place? A lot of keys places in the UK won't do it unless you've bought the new keys from them, misrable b*sta*rd$

The new key doesn't look like the normal blue key for a Coupe. Some contemporary Fiats had a combined central locking remote/key (with a press button) but not on the Coupe. Have you taken all your keys along to a locksmith / key cutting place?

Have you taken all your keys along to a locksmith / key cutting place? I recently bought the key here http://www.keysinthepost.com/They used a picture for cutting. And then send it by post. It could be the wrong type of transponder chip. As far as the previous owner knows the red key is original and he had the coupe for a long time, though without the original blue spare key. The red key starts the car. Next step will be to drive to a specialized car key shop in The Netherlands after the Covid lockdown has ended.

It sounds like previous owner was not the original owner, and the fact the blue key was lost indicates a change of ownership, when there is the potential for a key to become lost. I've no idea how many different types of transponders there are, but maybe you can identify the correct type, obtain one, and put it in the blue key?
I know the silver key can be hard to take apart (a slide hammer is helpful) but the red key is easy to prise apart and identify the transponder chip (except of course it is likely different from that in the silver and blue keys). I've never tried to open a genuine blue key but I assume it comes apart like the red key?

=> This is my end goal if I can buy a scrapped silver key somewhere, so I have two silver keys. However, at the moment my best guess is I have the wrong kind of transponder chip. A post on facebook (Fiat Coupé Club UK) suggest e.g. the barchetta transponder chip is different from the coupe. Posted on nov 17, 2020 by Łukasz Budzowski

Hello Guys;)
1) This tip below works only with original keys for Coupe (infact ,with original transponder) which was provided by the FIAT with the car (or blank new original blue key or blank new original metal key). It won't work with unoriginal aftermarket keys. Even if you buy a blank new master key (on eBay) this trick will won't work since the blank new master keys are being sold without original precoded transponders.
"I want to add or remove keys to my CODE system
You must have a red key for this procedure. If you encounter a problem whereby your silver or blue key is no longer working and the CODE light says on, you want to add a new key to the code system or you want to remove a key you have lost, use the procedure below.
Have all your keys to hand. Insert Red Key and turn to MAR (ignition on, but do not start the engine) until CODE disappears. Remove red key. Insert Silver Key, turn to Mar until CODE goes out, remove silver key. Insert Blue Key, turn to Mar until CODE disappears, remove blue key. Insert Red Key, turn to MAR until CODE disappears. Remove red key."
2) Original blue rubber key can not be opened without damage. Also the metal key can be damaged while opening if you don't have experience (I have since, I renewed over 80 metal keys;).
3) From every key (not matter whether original or unoriginal) you can code unoriginal spare key or even original key - it only depends if a car key specialist has got a proper coding software. Red master key (or card code) is no longered need to code original key or unoriginal key.
