Anyone tried repairing chips / defects in powder coated wheels?

Can you do it yourself or is it a pro job..?

Sounds like you'd ideally want to take it back to the specialist who did the job originally,

If its a small mark you could try covering it yourself. Then again when you "know" a small mark is there your eyes are drawn to it -even when no-one else really notices it.

Would presume that its going to be very difficult to match the original powder coat finish. But someone else on here may know more.

You won't fix the powder coat, not without recoating. So yes it is a pro job. But if there's only some small marks you can touch with paint. The powder coat used should've had a RAL code (colour identification). If you know that you can get a paint the same colour.

If you don't know the exact colour, don't worry. You can get generic alloy silver touch ups that IMO can look quite good. But another avenue to explore - nail varnish. Loads of colours and as the bottle is clear you can see what the exact colour is. Just remember the clean and degrease before you apply any paint for maximum longevity

ITS the one problem with powder coating wheels, get a stone chip or curb wheels, you have to powder coat wheel again, it's not like car paint, you cant even feather it back, to just respray the mark, you need to strip the wheel completely back to bare metal and start over again, worst is when you get a chip with a powder-coated part, dampness gets in and eventually rust the complete surface it's on.
As a professional car painter, I don't understand why it's considered a great idea to Powdercoat car parts, of a car that will be used on the road, but just my opinion
