Lost my intwebs this afternoon; a bit of a pain for a while as everything comes up the same pipes but it got better. An hour ago, Telekom sent me a fine email:

Hier noch ein Tipp, falls es künftig noch einmal zu einer Störung kommt:

Bitte gehen Sie auf unsere Internet-Seite www.telekom.de/stoerung. Dort finden Sie eine aktuelle Störungsübersicht, können aber auch jederzeit ganz bequem Ihre Leitung prüfen oder eine Störungsmeldung an uns senden.

Roughly translated: it was broken, it might still be, we're looking at it - in future, look for info on www...

Using the internet I haven't got, presumably... laugh

Heh. I'm ploughing my way through German traffic regulations (something I should have done earlier, but...)

https://routetogermany.com/index seems to cover everything, apart from the 'do not bump into trees' warnings they have on some roads locally. But there are some oddities which I'm still thinking about:

  • A roundabout with a sign is a roundabout, and traffic on it has right of way. Signal on the way out, but not the way in, which is fine.
  • A roundabout without a sign is a four way crossing, and traffic to the right has right of way...
  • A cycle must have lights, even if only used in daylight.
  • You may not 'tune' your car except internally without (inspection and) permission. Tyre sizes may not be changed, exhausts may not increase noise, spoilers, engine changes/mods/replacements...
  • Trams have right of way over everything, except emergency vehicles with blues and twos. Busses have right of way over everything except trams - if they're pulling out from a stop, you *must* wait even if already alongside. As far as I can tell, *everything* has right of way over a thirteen year old UK registered Bravo.

All good fun!

Neil

In the netherlands you can add that bicycles have prority (at least liability wise).
And I still do not know how to cope with UFO’s on a roundabout:
