Thanks….seems that is the case. How did you get the speaker cable past the steering column to the centre console?
Also did you remove the old cable by pulling through from behind the radio? If you don't mind lying in a contorted position for a while you can feed the cable down behind the carpet at the back of the foot pedals. It helps if you pull the door seal away slightly at the level of the bonnet release handle, you'll get started behind the carpet there.

If replacing the tweeter you need a crossover to limit the bass going to the tweeters. The original ones had a capacitor to do this. If you don't do it then the tweeters will either blow or sound horrible!

I should have gone up and behind the clocks then back down, but I just went under the steering column and ziptied all the cables together. It ain't pretty, but I don't see out of my knees so it's no issue for me.
I left all the old cable in place and ran new cables from an amp in the boot. I took this exact approach, reran new cables from an amp in the boot, could also run from the back of the headunit.
