Behind Enemy Lines
I took the opportunity of a couple of extra days Bank Holiday (thank you Ma'am) to get under the coupe and deal with some surprising rust which was brought to my attention when she recently had her MOT (which she again flew through)

Even though she lives inside at night- the rust to the rear trailing arms was started to gallop on a bit. And the Eiffel towers at the rear-well becoming a memory.

I've learnt the hard way that I'm a fair weather mechanic. And its far better to leave things to people who are skilled and make money doing things the proper way.

But- felt I had better get her up on the ramps and get on with some emergency protection until she got to her next service and could be looked at fully.

Two hours in, sweating, covered in muck, dried mud, and old rust I was starting to regret the burst of DIY. But I consoled myself that I had at the very least had a really good go at removing the surface rust, clearing the surface and putting on a rust inhibitor. Even if it had dripped in a few places. At the very least - this will keep things at bay until it gets serviced and Joe can get some replacement towers on the rear. And have a proper go at my diy efforts.

On the way I found a loose lower shock absorber bolt holding the rubber bum stop in place - it sounded like teaspoon in a mess tin.
And a nearly worn out rubber exhaust mount-so swapped that out with one I had lying around.

So not a totally waste of time. And she may be quieter still on the road.

Hope you all made the best of your extra time off.

regards

MM

Great effort MM, esp. as you've bitten the bullet to do it yourself thumb

It's amazing what you find under there...from what's left of the metal!
