Hey guys, so sound is a big big part of the experience for me and most of you i imagine, what bovs do peeople run? Ive tried the baileys "style" dv26 from prosport/rspec/rudiemods on ebay, good sound but find they tend to leak simply because of the vacuum nipple being a seperate screw in piece, running a collins twin piston now which sounds ballsy as f***, either sounding like a whip cracking or pane of glass breaking, switching to the forge twin piston fmdv004 over the weekend among other jobs to do, anybody run this one? If so, how good does it sound if you've heard the other two valves before or even if you havn't heard the other two?

Afternoon mooney, funnily enough we were just discussing this over our project car this morning, and the potential detraction in engine performance was mentioned.

On another note, since we have several overseas readers on this forum whose first language is not English it is helpful for them if we don't abbreviate too much. Perhaps you could edit your thread title from "bovs" to......

Thanks

Lol yea im not far off twice that pal. I like the sound of a nice crisp sharp agressive valve thats generally associated with the rb and jz engines running the tial bovs which are exactly as i decribed.
When running alot of boost it makes it sound so much more kick arse.

I have a Synapse Synchronic Diverter Valve. Fabulous piece of kit that really needs to be tuned to get the most out of it. I'll be sharing videos of the car when it's back and so will make sure I capture some of the noises when it's been properly tuned thumb

Okay sounds good. Thats an interesting choice of BOV for sure, iirc it works in similar if not same fashion to the hks ssqvs...? If so, can never leak under boost. Tho the sound is something to be desired for these synchronic and hks valves imo.
Paid 210 for my last genuine ssqv 4 valve. Big ol waste of time. Having to get a seperate 25mm mounting adaptor flange that doesnt even seal properly once the snap ring is installed to the point that your not supposed to be able to spin it once its seated properly. Still leaks.
Forge was 112 quid. Be here tomorrow smile

I did a lot of research when choosing it and none of my key requirements were the sound it made tongue I wanted it to not leak boost, be reliable, have facility to recirculate, and be FAST. It did (and, I believe, still does) all of these better than anything out there on the market.

I seem to recall a video with one of the Synapse units set up on a rig in series with an HKS SSQ, and it dumped so fast that the HKS didn't even move. Possibly marketing nonsense as I can't find it now to confirm otherwise but it was certainly impressive stuff.

I had the Bailey DV26 originally and, later, the Forge DV006 and both were awful things in comparison. Constant maintence, rubber components that needed replacing etc.

For me it has to be about sound. No point driving a quiet boring car. The forge is supposed to be the best twin piston when it comes to holding boost so its a no brainer for me aslong as it sounds the bollaxe. The dv26 defo did leak i noticed it from the vacuum reading i was getting at idle. Changed to the collins and the vacuum was reading higher.
Aa good as the synchronic is at holding boost i couldnt get on with its size and sound.
I may of seen that comparison video also during the time i just purchased the hks.
This fmdv004 valve is super simple and reliable no diaphrams no rubber crap to break, just two pistons and springs.

It's the smaller DV I have, not the SB click to enlarge

I have a few other mods that help to stop mine being a quiet, boring car laugh

Ohhh cool man. My exhaust is a 3.5 inch custom turbo back to what looks like a scorpion or toyosports backbox. But its not overbearing. Sounds great. Eith the conventional twin pistons i find the best of both in terms of sound is there. Part throttle dumps is mostly flutter and full boost is tiny flutter then the valve dumps ceazy loud.
The forge valve just arrived now yey. Ive got some work to do over the weekend on it should the weather clear up.

There's a difference between tuner and chavvy ricer and im not some chavvy teenager, I associate BOVs with high bhp jz and rb engines.
