My car is now SORNed tucked up in a garage. Seems it needs a new battery with current one losing charge unless than 10 days.

Just wondering how people care for their car over the winter. Do you start and let run every few weeks? Disconnect the battery? Put on trickle charge?

Would be interested to know.

In the past I've just left it on trickle charge but on a timer as I don't like the idea of constantly charging. So it would trickle charge it overnight once a week.

I did find slight mould growth on the interior surfaces even when parked in garage. So probably a good idea to leave a window ajar to get ventilation.

I just disconnect the battery and put the car on axle stands. Never bothered staring the car, but first start of the year I crank it over until full oil pressure is reached.

I will probably still take the car out on nice days; actually even if it gets wet it won't be a problem as once back in the 'garage' it can get dried off. No problem with damp as there's a fairly constant temperature and plenty of air.

I do tend to start it up and let it run for a bit if I don't use it for more than a week, just to keep the battery topped up. If the weather gets too bad than I will disconnect battery and trickle charge once a month.

Weather has been poor and roads filled with filed mud and run off already- so its gone in to early hybernation.

Intelligent trickle charger in place- which has been a god send in terms of fit and forget at winter.

Will run mine once a week, run the a/c. And on nice dry sunny cold days if no surface water- will take it out.

I try and do any small jobs on her over this period. Ready for her full service at Joes in spring next year!

My Coop is washed,waxed and tucked away in my garage. Just as well, woke up this morning to heavy snow and it hadn’t let up all day. We haven’t had snow in quantity like this for a lot of years up here.

On occasions like this it's good to have a cover, whether material or bricks-and-mortar

Hoping to get her out for a gentle shakedown run this weekend if the rain stays off....
