My local store has it at £146.9 which is only 4p above it's E10! Dunno what's going on but usually it's a good 10p more expensive. No doubt the car feels to run better on it but mindful what a specialist said - supermarket fuel is cheap fuel sold cheaply so best avoid

I use Momentum all the time in my modified 124 Spider and the F430, regular supermarket or Costco fuel in other cars.

It's made to the same standard specifications (BS EN 228) as other petrol and indeed is sourced from the same oil refineries as the "majors" (who has ever seen a Tesco oil refinery?). The only difference is whatever additives may be included to differentiate the fuel, and if you believe the marketing hype the fuel from the "majors" is somehow better. Personally, I don't believe it, but as they say, YMMV...

Nothing wrong with the Tesco momentum fuel, mine is fleamapped with it

As Dave says: any fuel in the UK is refined to the same minimum standards. Since the sixteen can't make any timing adjustments to take allowance of higher octane (later knock) fuel, there's no point running anything fancy _unless_ you want to take advantage of, perhaps, detergents in some fuels.

Even mine, which is the car Flea developed the 16NA chip on, is still mapped to use standard 95, and that's what it gets... (except these days it gets 5% alchohol mix, not the cheaper 10% - but that's for reasons of component longevity). I don't treat it like a rally car, but I don't drive like a grandpa either; on the Turin trip Worcester - Berlin - Turin - Berlin I got better than 43mpg average, including a section of just under 500km in three hours...

I run my 20v NA on Tesco fuel, 5000 miles a year.

I was pleased to hear that Jamie uses it. I had assumed that a highly tuned engine might benefit from 'posh' fuel.

As Dave said, all the fuel is the same, distributed from only a couple of refineries, then blended with odds and sods.

I have read that often there is very little ethanol in E10 fuel, and its similar to E5.

With you putting the car away, I heard that there is a fuel suitable for long term storage. Is there any truth in this?

There's no specific fuel but you put in fuel stabiliser which is apparently good for 2 years if you're leaving fuel in the car. And if so you fill the tank to the max or alternatively drain the tank completely. I'm also starting the car every 2 months and let it run for c 60m to get it fully up to temp and avoid a build up of condensation. Well that's the theory anyway

If it's 4p more a litre why not, even just for the perceived benefit! If it's 20p more a litre than personally I wouldn't bother with inisisting on E5 in the Coupe, I haven't heard of or had any issues with using E10 in my car (yet); as for longevity given the age of both the Coupe and I that's not a great concern. You can use Sta-bil if the car is sitting unused for the Winter, but again never had any issues with leaving cars and motorcycles for 6 months with/or without. I don't start the cars or bikes to 'warm' them as reckon it won't benefit anything (some say the AC system needs regular use to keep it working though); just a trickle charger
