I thought I’d post my progress here, both for anyone as reference in the future and also so I can remember how I goes back together!

I purchased a turbo and fmic from Flea which arrived a few days ago, so I set about stripping the front end down. It soon became clear why the AC hasn’t worked since I’ve had her! New condenser needed there then.

The radiator although works perfectly I’m thinking may as well be refreshed now as starting to go on the top and bottom. I’ve read good things about the Direnza ones on here, so unless anyone has any other good recommendations I’ll probably purchase one of them.

Apart from that the front end is in good shape. I need to tickle a little area with the welder but a good wire brushing and some rust protection and she will be great 😊

One thing that’s puzzling me, is when removing this intake pipe, I found this hole open with nothing going into it. There’s no loose pipes anywhere hanging so nothing has fallen off so something must have been intentionally removed I gather. Would anyone know what this should be? Being open just before the turbo and no filtration can’t be that good!

I’m not familiar with the turbo - does EPER have a diagram that shows what should be attached to that pipe work? It certainly doesn’t look good to have it open to the outside! Was it running ok before you started this work?

This is where the oil vapor recirculation hose connects to. A common modification is to delete this connection and fit a blanking plug to opening...but yours appear to be a blanking plug which has developed a hole in it?
