The trustworthy 500x will be going later this year so pondering some options. Budget £25k max and less than 2 years old - not German nor Ford or VX and something a bit individual. I think we need to embrace 'newer' technology so the AR Stelvio is out the question though if the Giulia came in sportwagon guise then I'd have one in a shot. Fancy the Alfa Tonale MHEV though I know it's been met with 'its not a proper Alfa' blah blah but hey the world moves on. Shocked how you can pick up a 24reg new model MGHS Hybrid+ for less than £20k but suspect it'll be distinctly average in all departments at that price. Oh and to be totally banal, boot space c 500litres for dog etc rolleyes

Answers on a postcard smile

If it?s just a workhorse, then the MG stuff will fit the bill, otherwise I think you?ll struggle with the budget you have in mind

Cheers Jamie

Jamie is right about the MG range

You could also look at the Chinese Jaecoo/Omoda ranges if want a lot of metal for a value price.

Then if your street cred doesn't matter, follow me to the Dacia showroom !

Hello Alan

You are thinking of the Citroen C5X

Our friends had one a couple of years ago.

They thoroughly enjoyed it.
I'm sure that you will too.

Paul

Yup did think about the new MG but as Paul has said - bucked the SUV trend and bought a 73 reg Citroen C5X with only 3.5k on the clock. Top spec model with ample space and distinctive styling. Much applauded when launched in the UK and lamented when Stellantis decided to pull it May this year deciding to focus on SUVs. Fast it is not but that's not the purpose of the Citroen. Perhaps it has too many gizmos for my liking but the proper HUD onto the windscreen is a game changer shocked

Just not ready yet for electric particularly that many come with a new price in excess of £40k so road tax is punishing for 5 years plus the cost of installing a box etc.

Enjoy it Alan, as long as you don't mind smelling of garlic and smoking Gitanes

Nothing wrong with either of those Paul, when we lived in SW France even the cat food (RonRon) contained garlic. Our cats loved the stuff.

Although I do have to admit that one of my Parisian friend's Peugeot was a little ripe inside.

We must all do our part for the planet.
I unplugged a row of electric cars that nobody was using.
I even unplugged my own.
