I bought my first Coupe in, I think, 2001, and my second in 2003 or 2004 (which I still have). I've been a member here pretty much from the start of my ownership - I have a vague recollection that one time we all had to re-register, when the original forum disappeared and I went to try and hunt down the hosting company in a dodgy South London street!

Anyway, point of my post: back in the day, before social media took a hold, FCCUK was an amazing resource for Coupe owners, with people trying and discovering new ways of keeping these cars on the road and tweaking them. I've largely been absent for a very long time* but I've come back here tonight to ask for help, and several people have all responded and told me what I need to know, and even offered video calls to help me with it. I'm amazed, and slightly humbled, that such a great resource still exists and is still alive & kicking. Long may it continue, and my sincere thanks to those who have responded today.

* Some of you may remember that my car was completely rebuilt by CarlT, back in, I think, 2008. There's a thread on it somewhere but I think all the pictures have gone. Since then, I've only ever used it very sporadically, although I did take it back to Turin to see the Lingotto building several years ago. Several other cars have come and gone in that time, and the Coupe has spent many a year under a cover in the garage, hence my absence from here, but I've hung on to it. I had it MOTd a year ago, and to my shame I've not used it at all since. Once I get this fuel pump sorted, it'll be back in for another MOT (was booked for this week but I'll have to reschedule now) and I SHALL tax it and drive it!

Cheers all.

What a blast from the past - logging back on here.. ooo I don't know what drove me here.today - but I immediately see a post from C8p and a post from Emjay..

It's been many years for me; many years from owning a coop and many years from being here.

I have nothing to add or say other than hello.

I've pretty much lost contact with everyone - work and kids and kids and work and before you know it - your old and sensible cry

Anyhow - I hope everyone is alive and well and enjoying their cars (whatever they are in nowadays)

Cheers and I'll see you in 2030 - Jimmy smile

I must have slipped back in time....... seeing names appearing from wayback!

Good to know that everyone's still enjoying their Coupés, though it seems that like mine, the Coupé doesn't always get used so much these days!

I feel bad that I don't use it very often, mostly to regular classic car meets each month and the occasional fun drive out to visit a friend, but then I don't really go far in my normal everyday car these days!

Coupé normally is parked in the nice dry fairly dust-free barn/workshop, which thankfully is also cool in the weather we have been having (two plus weeks at 36 - 40). It's pretty much just run in, having reached 47k this year!

As for helping, I think we all need some help at some time so offering the same when you can, seems fair AS someone who joined in 2004 as well, before the Forum went missing, I remember it always being so.

Nice little update: the Coupe passed a thorough MOT today with zero advisories cool which is nice! Cambelt and oil service done by Rog last week.

It’s sitting on a genuine 83k miles - I wonder how many there are about with that sort of mileage on them these days?

I found one with 64,530 on the clock the other day........but it doesn't seem to have moved since 2014 frown

That’s looking rather sorry for itself. Wonder what the underside is like.

Back in 2017 a small group of us took on a broomy which had been lying beside a hedge for 13 years; it was in surprisingly good condition (apart from some spots where piles of damp vegetation had accumulated) underneath, paintwork too - a benefit from being out-of-reach of the winter salt-chuckers...

I'm sure there are others out there as well, but mine has a genuine 47,500 on the clock and barely any sign of rust (just a tiny bit on the bottom of the passenger door, but to be treated this winter).

Well seeing as were having an old boys reunion, I'll pop in and say hello too. I drop in here every now and again to catch up and read a few crap jokes. It's nice to see the forum still alive and some of the old names resurfacing.
