Hi FCC members,

I'm looking for advice on the 4 spoke 1998 20v Turbo alloy wheels. I have a set on my recently purchased Coupe 20v Turbe that have been painted/coated (powder coated maybe) into a dark grey at some point in their life, however I want to return the alloys back to their original silver colour (as they would have been from the factory).

Does anyone know if the original silver colour is the natural finish of the alloy material or whether they will need to be repainted/powder coated to match the original silver?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, the silver finish is paint. The best option will be to have the wheels refurbished, they'll strip the old paint off and powder coat them silver.

Thank you redwheels, I'll look at getting them re-powder coated.

Do you know if it's a generic silver or whether a colour code exists for them?

No colour code usually, some wheels do, like BMW orbit or ferric greys or Mercedes Himalayan grey. The wheels will usually be made by other companies. Always best to refurb all wheels at the same, or 2 on the same side of the car to get a good colour match.
Generally all silvers are the same, it's the metallic fleck that varies , Fords or Range Rovers have a coarser fleck while German cars tend to have finer metallics, The Coupe had a finer metallic silver like German cars.

This Alfa near me has a slightly more silver shine.

Im contemplating re-finishing mine like this.
