We're off there, and Genoa, mid-April for the best part of a week. 5 quaint and colourful hill-hugging coastal villages mostly unconnected by road but all by train, with some good walks between.

Anyone know this area of Liguria?

Don't know that area but West of Genoa has a beautiful coastline.Would recommend Alassio, the old walled part is amazing ,also Laigueglia, beautiful beaches.I have visited 7 or 8 times when attending the international Fiat 500 event at Garlenda, the Fiat 500 museum in Garlenda is a must if you are 500 fan, superb views and roads once inland of the coast, enjoy your trip.

Cinque Terre are pretty towns, very touristy. Nice train ride to hop from one to the next, watch out for bag snatchers as you exit the train. Mid April will probably not be too crowded as the season is just starting.

Well that was mozzafiato (breathtaking!)

Yes, touristy - mainly French, I guess because of its proximity - but lovely people, smiling, kind and patient.

There was an American couple next to us in a coffee bar one of whose bag had been snatched (like described above) but they phoned a tracker on it which beeped and the thief dropped it all in an alleyway, nothing taken!

The 2 days in Genoa not nearly enough, left us wanting more hopefully on a future occasion.

Food not too variable, usually local specialities involving seafood and lots of trofie (a type of pasta) with Genovese pesto which they're famed for.

Now to stop shrugging my shoulders, palms splayed outwards laugh

A super experience, even the Leaning Tower in Pisa was awesome in spite of the crowds smile
