About five years ago, lacquer peel started in a few locations and there was a little bubbling under the Pininfarina
badge, and bits and bobs of defects here and there.
I decided to have a 'budget' respray, to expose the defects and see where I stood.
Fortunately, taking the paint down to primer exposed no significant damage at all.
The car was resprayed, and I was happy with the finished job.

My car lives outside all year and is used regularly.

Recently, the flat surfaces, boot lid, roof and bonnet have started to show some clouding.

I decided to do a bit of remedial work.
I thoroughly washed the car, clayed it and washed down again.
I then polished it with Meguiars Ultimate Compound.
I was quite afraid that if I was too harsh, then I would burn through the paint.
Now on reflection, I think that I could have gone more deeply, as there are few spots that could do with more work.
However, I decided to call it a day.
I then waxed with Meguiars Gold Class wax.

This will do me for a few months and probably well into the New Year.

Any other experiences with pinking ?

Paul, when you try to upload photos (on Attachment Manager) what response do you get?

eg, file size too large

or "doesn't support....." etc?

When I tap it, it suggests that the photo nay not exist, has been moved or edited.

The photos have been resized, but are jpg format and will open elsewhere without problems

Not with lacquered paint, but single stage old skool paint. Found it had a tendency to oxidise later in life. My 'hack' at the time was to use foaming upholstery cleaner to lift the oxide. Old clothes needed as red went everywhere.

It was just regular wash and wax after that to maintain

Not sure where you are seeing the grey screen.


Under your 'reply' box press 'use full editor'

Then click 'Attachment Manager' under this new box

Then 'select a file to attach' in the pop-up window

The items you have selected appear in a list underneath.

Then press 'done'.
