I was intregued to find out how heavy the coupe is after reading in Top Gear magazine that the Alfa Brera is a beautiful car but dissappointingly slow. Even the V6 they say sounds great but it just doesnt shift. All show no go.

So here it is then the comparison: In the Sprint Blue corner Fiat Coupe 1179 kg.....in the Alfa red corner the Brera at 1630 kg !!! Wow what a lard bucket.

Sort of makes you gratefull for yet another strong point about the coupe.

PS The Stilo Abarth is a dissappointment for the same reason.

Apologies, I picked that figure up from a random website. But even still, there's a 300 kg advantage over Brera and other recent cars - that's a real benefit.

has anyone ever done a lightweight project on a coupe? glassfibre doors, boot, bonnet with headlights mounted on engine bay (so bonnet doesnt snap!) no interior no aircon etc.

Nigel light weights his coop for TOTB, but by taking everything out of it, so its more of a temp measure. It does seem to work though

According to Autocar, Brera V6 is about 1850kg.... So there you go.
I also drove it last sunday - cannot describe the dissapointment. Felt like a Mercedes - with crappy interior!
Happily back in my Coop!!

Why does everyone always forget the Alfa GT? Nowhere near as overweight as the Brera, looks stunning, seats four and has the 240bhp 3.2 V6 engine. The V6 weight is 1410 kg but for your extra 100kg you're getting quite a bit more car.

I had one before the Coupe, albeit a very torque oil burner, and loved it. Very similar to the Coupe, infact the reason I chose the Coupe was becuase it was the most similar car to the GT that I could get whilst saving some pennies.

Hopefully when I'm ready to sell the Coupe, the used GT V6s will be down below £10k
