hey i had my black diamond discs and theyve warped at doin jus under 4000 miles sent black diamond an email to see what they say and if they might be happy enough to change em for me doubt it tho! so i thought id start looking for some new brakes. is 304mm disc biggest you can get on the fronts? any suggestions on what discs i should get? those vented drilled and grooved discs were evil! broke very well!

I can recommend the 3G 20 groove discs. Very good quality.

I WANT F40
it's a 305mm disc on the front, and I also recommend 3G discs - mine (10G) have been hammered for over 20,000 miles including competition use and are still going strong. I also use Ferodo DS2500 pads which are a good road/light competition use pad.

I have seen those nice 2 piece discs in the group buy section though, look pretty mean to be honest and I'd be tempted by those if I had the funds. I'd say they would probably be the best!

Sideways a LOT

Please correct me if I am talking tosh but I seam to remember that giving the brake a good work over, such as track days, is the best way to avoid warping. It is not that the disks are warped but the build up of friction material from the pad to the disk is distributed unevenly. This happens more in low mileage car or during winter when the brake are not used as often. It can also me exaggerated by coming to a complete stop from a bard braking session and leaving the brake pedal depressed.

I think it was Nigel that posted the bedding in procedure that Pagid recommend (not for the faint hearted) and this can also be used to clear "warped" disks.

It worked a treat on my Red Dot disks 20 groove disks, which had at one point made a smooth gentle stop almost impossible.

So the moral is even the best brakes can suffer this problem if they are not bedded in or used aggressively once in a while.

The 3G/Pagid combo really works (although I've ran a friend coupe with better feeling but he have braided hoses fitted).

The noise from the Pagids are anoying though I'm waiting from my shims from the group buy to see if they really work
