Just letting you know that I was willingly collared this lunchtime in CMK shopping centre and just got a free £100 membership to MOP - Ministry of Paintball. This means I can make priority bookings for any MOP participating paintballing venue in the UK for the much reduced price of £6 per person - it's usually about £25. This appears to be practically any paintballing venue in the UK. And I can get unlimited tickets at the price of £6 whenever I choose to organise an event. The deal is similar to Karting though in that if we were to have an exclusive booking, we would need more than 20 people on average. I've been paintballing before and it's a great way to stay fit… sorry, get fit, and at this price I'm up for doing this as often as possible! You pay £6 for playing plus £10 per 100 paintballs, or less on a bulk order, everything else comes free, including food. So venue can be arranged anywhere at almost anytime, but I guess I get the over-ruling vote on that one (I get to play dictator at last! Woohoo! Don't say this dictator can't make the world better for ya! ). £16 for a weekend of blasting? That's a winner surely? fccuk event anyone?

I was thinking somewhere central as a fair start. MK whilst, ahem, pretty convenient for me is also very middle of the country. Rushden near Bedford is supposed to be the best in the country with tanks and all sort to hide around.
Venue could change whenever we feel like it I suppose.

I can definately vouch for how much fun this is - had a few of these events with work, but due to the main organisers leaving i dont think its going to happen again (at least not for a while ). Expect a few bruises (and also a headache if, like me, you forget to duck when running under trees because you cant see them properly through the visor..... )

These people tried to collar me in Guildford. I told them I'd had enough of shooting after 22 years in 42 Commando.
Despite my refusal on that occasion, I have been paintballing before. You should budget for 1000 paintballs which bumps up the price just a little.....

Done Paintballing a few times. Yeah smacked my head of a few branches too! lol
MOP VIPs get a bulk discount on 500/1000/2000 paintballs too, though I couldn't find a section on the website for that... And it costs less the more balls you buy. 100 = £10, next 100 = £7 etc. IMO having fewer balls just teaches you not to be tigger happy and concentrate on tactics than hide somewhere and shoot for England. Sneaking around and picking people off is fun but it depends on the game, event and number of people.
Charging at people in teams and firing point blank tends to be quite effective, especially in games like assassinate the president and retrieve the ammo box.

Was gonna mention the 100 paintball things aswell. I've been a couple of times and 100 paintballs lasted me 1 round the first time i went (trigger happy) and just about 2 rounds the second time. The problem isnt so much randomly firing, its the woeful inaccuracy of paintball guns. U fire off about 5 paintballs each time u attack someone becuase they all bend off in different directions or get blown off target by the wind. Then of course theres the jokes. "Ok everyone point your guns into the air and fire a shot to make sure they are working" Mate of mine points his gun at point blank range at Dave (another mate) and pop! "ARGHHH!!!" "yup mines working"

Hence the point blank tactic. I remember running through the woods picking of loads of people point blank a la Willem Daffoe in Platoon. I felt like a king until I got c0cky and tried to storm a fort by myself. Then I kinda felt like Butch Cassidy must've done in his last moments... One of the instructors nearly wet himself when I returned to the safe area wipe the paint of and he saw how many times I'd been shot. Then I was back to playing Daffoe...

Haha sounds strangely like something that happend in one of our games. It was Capture the Flag and when u got shot u returned to your own base and waited for a siren to go off when those 'dead' people could come 'alive' again. Anyways alot of our team (including me) were dead and waiting for the siren and we could see this sneaker ghet coming down the left hand side. He made it all the way to the last bit of cover prior to our base before stopping and waiting. We were all screamign at whoever was left on our team cause right now he could have grabbed the flag and snuck bakc the way he came. He Waited.... All of a sudden he came running for our flag. The siren erupted. A look of sheer terror appeared on the mans face. About 15 of us all pointed our weapons at him and in a barrage of continuous fire we all offloaded about about 5 paintballs each into his torso. Poor fella had to be taken to one side and sat down for the rest of the day

LOL that's the Butch Cassidy "feeling" alright! Paintballing is a hoot. Especially if you don't fear the slight pain at all if you're unlucky enough to get hit where it hurts. I remember ambushing this one poor chap and shot him in the back, except the paintball bounced off. So I shot him again, and it bounced off again. And again. And again. "Break you b'stards!". Then one of his mates shot me in the rse as I had this target fixation. Bugger. Hard back v's well-padded rse? How does that work? Surely the ball-breakage should've been the other way around? I bet he'll never play again. If it's any consolation mate, I was enjoying myself!

No belt automatic machine guns please! Depends on the location we choose to go to I guess. All will provide equipment, (semi-automatic) guns, food etc as part of the deal I can get.

Not many takers then? I thought some nice PAINtballing would be just up some of your streets... especially if I'm available to be shot at. Didn't you lot do (and presumably enjoy) this on an fccuk event?

I'd be up for it.
Bernie, you wouldn't be able to bring your own gun on an event like this, the organisers won't let you. They will only allow them (normally) at walkon events, which is where they ONLY supply balls, the rest of the gear is your own.
I'f you've got your own gear and mask they should let you use them, just not the gun.

Yeah well I'm just getting an idea for numbers. Should easily be able to make 30 with a few fccukers, mates and a few peeps from my current work. I'll choose a date and location pretty soon, but the idea is that the date shouldn't matter too much if painballing does happen regularly anyway...
btw, winter is actually a good time to do it as most struggle with heat/exhaustion in the summer!
