Yup, that's me all right. aka angel eyes, done the mod about 2 years ago, and HID as well I'll try to post some pic for those interested in DIY.

I'm not sure about the availability of the parts though, it should be very cheap IIRC.

Cheers,

Only arrived the other day not had chance to do anything with them at all. But this is what you get in the packet Angel Eyes & these are the dimensions off the back Back of packaging.

The dimensions are small ones 80.4 internal, 106.6 external. The larger ones, 99.6 internal, 128.0 top to flat & 148.7 across the oval if that all makes sense.

I was all up for these until I saw the Blue LED bit. Phaeton does it look as if the LED can easily be changed for another colour?

Are you going to wire them so they come on with the side lights?

Cheers

but tell me one thing, cause i don't have a clue on the measures, you're going to fit both pair?

The ones I bought are white, not sure if he has anymore but his number is 01623 636399. I figured on having them on as well as the sidelights, whether I ever get round to fitting them is another matter, I don't have a garage, daughter's just bought a house etc etc. Running repairs to 5 cars comes before messing with niceties.

Remove the bonnet

But seriously they are quite easy to remove. unplug the wiring and then there are just 4 bolts/screws.

Does that leave the plastic covers in the bonnet or do they come out as well? If so how do you seperate the two as the units will have to go inside that bit?

I think i read on someones how to guide for paiting the light surrounds that the plastic covers need to be heated at the edges gently so that the glue becomes soft, then they can be removed.

Yep Truffle has the right idea. Good opportunity to clean the insides too. Re-seal with silicone IIRC.

Here the details by Scooby from another thread:-

Quote:

Not easy, but not impossible either. You need to gently heat them to soften the glue and then they prise off. One suggestion was to wrap them in a towel and put them on a radiator. Once you've got them apart you need to pick out all the glue and then reassemble with silicon sealant type stuff.

Not get to work

Erm excuse me for being dim but do these Angel Eyes replace your headlight bulbs or run in tandem alongside them

In other words are they just ornamental or are they replacement lamps

They are ornamental and will fit around the current lamps.

Good luck Phaeton and don't forget to take pics all the way through the process.
Just think if they work and you have a how to guide you could get a group buy going and make a few quid whilst helping us all.

The angel eyes DIY I've attempted it before, the problem with that DIY is that the acrylic rims are far too thick to be placed on the outer rim of our highbeam and melts easily when you have the highbeam on constantly. The other part is that LEDs are not brighter than CCFL, especially when you need the LED to light up the acrylic rod from the 2 ends. So it won't be bright at all during the day...check my pics and you'll know that I mean.
