I dont understand it either, I cant see why everyone finds a big improvement and I find a loss ?

Im gonna take it all off and have another look at it, I need to sort the bumper out anyway, it goes out of shape when you cut he front centre section away so I need to fit a strengthening bar to hold the top edge straight where the grille sits on the bumper.

Without reading the rest of this thread because I'm too lazy, are you sure you haven't squashed a pipe, or got a tiny boost leak or something ? I really don't understand.

No I'm not sure. I cant see me fitting anything incorrectly (its only a few pipes and tubes ) but I am going to have another look to check.

I think something has got to be wrong too,I can`t see how a superspool can be ok in 1 car and cr*p in yours, what chip are you running, apexi boost level set ok,squashed pipe, leaking joint, even leaking I/C,etc etc,I know you are more than capable of fitting all that stuff, have you tried a quick call to Barbz ?,gotta be something not quite right, rather than it can`t work together,I did keep my chargecooler on ,as I liked the way it seemed to give the engine a further dimension,in that it seemed to drive like a big torquey engine, rather than a highly tuned 2 ltr turbo`d unit.does that make sense

Hi Paul,

Im running a gtec2 chip at the moment with boost set at 1.25bar.
I have a gtec2 high fuel waiting to go in when I get the unichip fitted.
I've the battery disconnected at the moment to do an ecu reset so we'll see if it makes any difference, fingers crossed it does ?

I think its just the extra couple of feet of inlet piping that makes it feel different, I'll get used to it im sure

So you run the FMIC & CC !! Blimey, thats a seriously cooled inlet, your poor radiator cant have any direct air on it at all Im guessing you fitted an uprated rad ?

Jimbo,
I used to run my 'superspool' with a EVO style FMIC (ANEW Digital) and it was absolutely brilliant..much better than with the Pace sidemount. Then I fitted the SI pipe and it was better still...so I can't understand why yours is not producing the goods

Well the weather just loves me but I think I got it sorted

I turned my AMS so its mounted as it would have been as standard ( I did have it mounted with the plug sat vertically) I also took the ECU out and fitted the gtec2 high fuel chip (thanks Graham ).

Took it out for a drive to let the chip settle in and then gave it some welly.... Feels like its got its punch back again now.. Phew

Is it normal for the dump valve to make some interesting noises through the SI pipe, its giving a Ch Ch Ch Ch Chhh type noise on light throttle lift off, sounds like a rally car !!

Mines been making rally stylee noises ever since I fitted my straight induction pipe.

Might change from my DV26 to something a bit better soon and see if it makes any difference.

With the SIP fitted you'll probably notice more noise, this will be the lovely turbo noises which were masked by the standard pipe before

I angled my filter up slightly using some spare 45' Samco hose I had knocking around, keeps it slightly raised and out of harms way.

Due to all the water that comes from the Wheel housing, maybe it is a good idea to put a plastic sheet where the old IC used to be. What do you think?

I put some rubber sheet around the wheel arch side of the filter, just to give it a bit of protection.

And no, no troubles with SIP and atmos dv.

These are old photos, but thought that they might be worth a repost, considering the interest in protecting the air filter from water when using an SIP . My solution:

glad to hear you are getting somewhere ,yup all these noises come standard with the SI pipe after a while you get to them.
cooled inlet ...............I have Aquamist too......all the cold inlet stuff, does wonders for the torque figures and yes uprated Rad

Well well well, where do I start?!

I fitted my Pro-alloy during the week, but work and weather has stopped me so far from testing it. Until last night that was.

What a difference, I am amazed how much my car has been transformed. The induction roar and chattering noises top off what is an excellent upgrade from my old Pace FMIC. Don't get me wrong, the Pace does an excellent job, but the PA just does it better.

My Greddy's boost setting before was 56% for boost and gain set at 20. That always gave me a constant 1.3 bar of boost midrange which I was happy with, but it tailed off sometimes to around 0.6 bar at the redline which always annoyed me. Now, after fitting the PA I had to turn my boost set down to 44% and gain down to 15. I'm now seeing a solid 1.3bar and 1 bar at the redline.

The car feels insane at the top end, no longer like its being held back. I was thinking about going for a bigger blower, but not anymore. This so far, even above my HID's, has been my best buy. Although, I do have a slight problem now...clutch slip.

Fredrik

Mine was the test bed for so many that have followed, so it was fitted with lugs to measure the before and after I/C temperatures. The thing in the photo is one of the blanking plugs that Pro Alloy used when they did the original measurements .

Fitted mine last night with straight induction, all i can say is wow what a difference, i wish i had done it along while ago, had to cut a fair bit of the bumper, but the air hack got through that like butter. The only thing that ive noticed is the engine temp is alittle higher, i expect thats to do with the intercooler being in the way of the radiator.
