You shouldn't really change your boost settings above what your car was mapped for as in the mapping process they should map the car to the maximum beneficial boost level

I think it is better to have the DDS 2/3 as its almost failsafe and reacts instantaneously.
It is not essential to have it though, but I have to say the DDS units have worked extremely well and reliably for me

Hi, you don't need anything else with the 2d afaik 2D wiring diagram if you look at the bottom you can see the relay SPCO which is normally open, but closes when it detects a blocked jet, you use this to interface with the Unichip to switch ignition maps. However, Paul has always preferred the DDS systems and so has Richard from ERL, the one you've linked to is fine , the same as the one I use. regards Joe

You could always contact Richard Lamb from Aquamist directly, he is normally very helpful on the phone, and if anyone knows he would!,..still the DDS2 is a nice bit of kit

The DDS3 is THE failsafe system, it is the only way to detect a blocked jet or disconnected/split pipe. I personaly would not have a dual map without one.
£125 is a very good rpice for a DDS3.
Kenno, you doing any deals on the 2D system?

Hi Arthur,.. good to see you here again
I fancy the DDS3 myself , but both pods have gauges so no room, have to make do with the DDS2
Agree seems to work faultlessly.

To run a safe system you should really use the DDS3 to switch maps as this can detect the correct amount of water is being injected. I personally do not run more advance with water injection, I just use it for in-cylinder cooling (therefore I have my jet near the throttle rather than straight after the intercooler). Your failsafe SHOULD be the knock circuit on the engine management not the DDS3 as that is asking for trouble. For instance, I had a pipe split (between my solenoid and jet) - the DDS3 could not detect that as there will always be a pipe between the DDS3 unit and the nozzle. Likewise I have also had the nozzle 'blown out' of the intake and again the system could not detect this. If the map is done properly then all that happens if your WI fails is that the ignition is backed off to a normal non-WI level by the ECU.

what mixture are you running john? About 11.9-12.1:1 but because of the volume of fuel I'm using when my water injection is fully on (it is the 2C mappable system) it doesn't make much impact on the air/fuel ratio at all (I have a wideband lambda sensor+gauge). I'm still only running a 0.6mm nozzle as well, whereas I could use a 0.9mm easily. I also add a little methanol to the water. I do also dump more fuel at the top end for cooling as the standard OE ECU does.

Do you HAVE to use distilled water in the mix or can you get away with filtered/bottled water?
I was discussing this with Rog20VT and after a while he decided that using 'volvic touch of fruit - LE (lemon edition)' will provide that extra bit of zest we're all looking for in our aquamist applications.

I use <10% methanol. I'd never use more than 40% meth personally.
I always use boiled tap water, and I have one of those Brita filter kettles just for added measure

John,
You can set a high and low parameter with the DDS3 which will show if there are any problems.
Example, if your map is set for 400 units per minute, you can set the parameters to 390 and 410, the lower figure for if you have a blockage and the higher if there is a split/hose disconnection.
If the water is flowing between 390 and 410 then the ECU will go to the advanced map, either side and will stay on the "safe" map ie. the one not counting the WI.
You can alter the display on the DDS3 so you can physically see this for yourself but obviously the important bit is the signal it sends to the ECU to switch maps.
P.S. I do not work for Richard Lamb selling Aquamist stuff

that's right, if the flow is excessive it goes outside the parameters. Still if the pipe and jet disconnected ...lol I've tried to pull my jet off and its held in fast!,... won't come off in a hurry joe ps why is your email Arthur@aquamist.co.uk then?
