I am trying to make my beloved more personal to me....but without spending huge amounts of money!!

My current gear lever and knob are both standard....but i feel that the lever is a bit too long....therefore...is it possible to shorten the lever but use the same gear knob and keep the reverse safety thingy majig??

If so...how do I go about doing this without breaking anything that I shouldnt??!!

Cheers,

Dan

Could have hopped in my gearknob group buy, cheap and looks cool. But you're too late. So don't really know why I'm telling you all this!
Oh - the standard gearknob is not attached to the lift-up mechanism so no worries there.

Coopless!

I've got the same gear knob from the group buy, but not from the group buy if that makes sense?! It does make it a little lower than standard and looks loads better. Mine cost £26.50 from the local car tuning shop, just make sure it's one that you lift the gearstick up into.

You should be able to cut the shaft and adjust the reverse collar to suit. I did this on my first coop with alley momo knob. It looked and worked very well.

Cheers for the advice so far guys,

If i took the current gear knob off would i have to buy a replacement or could i still use it, as i quite like the knob...its just too long!!

And how much is adviseable to shorten it by? With regards to adjusting the reverse bit to fit, could that be as simple as taking a small section out from the midde and gluing it back together again?

Apologies for the questions...im really REALLY simple when it comes to D.I.Y or any kind!!

Thanks guys,
Dan
