We're now on the minimum of 15 - any more drop-outs means this will either cost more, or it will be cancelled. Not chuffed with the prospect of either event, to be honest. If just three more people drop out, the cost would rise to £50 per car, which is on the edge of becoming unrealistic.

I'm not running (don't need to) - I'm already spending £50 on fuel just to organise this - I don't want to be forced to spend another £40 to make up the numbers.

Nigel - i've put the money into your account at 'Stratford' today. Unfortunately there wasn't anywhere for me to write a reference on the payment slip.

As I feared, despite getting enough confirmed runners, there has been enough people dropping out to question whether this goes ahead.

I'll contact Perfect Touch today to see if they will go ahead with eleven runners (maybe ten if Truffle can't make it)

Please keep a close eye on this thread - I'd hate to cancel and still have people turning up on a freezing Sunday morning!

I'm going from a possible no to a probably no.

I still havent heard a peep from the garage or their insurers yet so no chance of anyhting happening before the weekend i suspect.

I've spoken with Claudio and told him that we're looking at ten or eleven runners

I've told him that I've already collected money from people and that increasing to more than £40 really isn't an option

He's crunching a few numbers as I type and will be back to me ASAP

Right - last chance!!!

This will NOT be going ahead with the current number of runners.

Looking back over this thread, there are two people that CONFIRMED attendance and have not been in touch since.

There are also seven other people that expressed interest and have not followed it up with a confirmation either way.

Normally, Perfect Touch ask for an up-front, non-refundable deposit from the organiser (me). However, going by the very good reception Perfect Touch have been getting, Claudio allowed me to pay on the day. Claudio has comitted resource to this - he and Rob have made family arrangements to work for the day and of course it costs a good few quid to open up the workshop, run the dyno cell etc.

I have to let Claudio know by 1:00pm today whether we have the numbers - so here's the ultimatum:

Unless we get three more in the next three hours, this event is cancelled.

On the assmuption that its taken a month to get ten runners, I'm not too hopeful, but you never know.

If its cancelled, I'll get in touch with everyone to arrange refunds.

Paul - thanks for the offer - its much appreciated.

However, the bottom line for this event was that PT needed £600 to warrant opening their workshop, firing up the dyno cell and associated gubbins and employing two or more staff to handle the activity.

With ten runners, we're looking at £60 each, which is simply not acceptable.

25 minutes left - this isn't going to happen \:\(

Thanks for the offers chaps, but I've had to make a decision.

This is now cancelled \:\( \:\( \:\( \:\(

There are two things I need to do:

1) I MUST make sure that everyone knows not to turn up on Sunday, so could all people that have paid, please PM me to say they have seen that its been cancelled - I'd hate for someone to travel all the way to Perfect Touch only to find it deserted.

2) Refunds - I have a bank statement with 10 entries of £40 on it and other than "P SAMMS", I don't know which belongs to which. I know two of you have paid over the counter at a bank branch (all I have is 24-41-00 and 60-20-36 - I assume you'll each be able to tell me who these were) Please PM me with your bank details (account number, sort code and account name) and I'll transfer the money back over the weekend. Lets see - £400 in my account over a period of six days at 1% per annum - wohooo! I've made 6.5p interest

I'm gutted - I always knew there would be a few unavoidable drop-outs, but from a very promising start, we ended up with less than half the original number of "V. interested"

Thanks to everyone who confirmed early and paid up. Sorry it couldn't happen.
