hmmmm, is the Alcon paddle much different to the Helix paddle (or are we talking the same thing here?)?

The Helix was better than the Walkers paddle it seemed a very light clutch, very on/off, but I did half think I could possibly get used to it?

Joe

As far as feel goes who makes the paddle is probably not going to make a great deal of difference. I don't think any of them are very heavy, certainly not on/off. If you've driven some TVRs etc. you'll find what on/off is

having driven the helix twin plate version, IT IS HEAVY, probably twice that of the OEM shite, but actually very useable

I could actually feather it & pull away at 1500 rpm without much judder / if none at all, you can also change up / down without any drama

how cool a conversion is that ?

I am still wimping out & going for a single plate version ( sprung ceremetallic with increased pre-load )

this is my ONLY experiment, if not, there are a few more to try, but as with all things & the fact that there aren't many coops yet that develop disgusting torque ( 450 lbft ), the typical clutch is still adequate, so the experimentation of differing clutches is not exhausted

as for 400bhp, easy to attain on a 2ltr lump ( flea manages this easy ) , but there are some drawbacks, low end torque could be lost ( due to headwork etc ) & the fact that other things start to suffer ( aux belts ! )

all depends on what you want, personally if my engine hadn't gone south, I'd have kept it as it was

....certainly never unhappy having a bit of poke

Might be worth double-checking your engine mountings are sound, if you can't overcome the juddering.
