With the lack of interest in Phil's group buy for Tarox two piece brake discs I am going to investigate further into acquiring some for myself (not group buy!). I'm going to start with AP and really fancy their strap drive discs but I need to know the dimensions of the existing Brembo setup to see if AP have something ready to go off the shelf. Does anyone have the exact measurements to hand?

Hi, from the 20VT workshop manual:
Diameter 305mm Thickness 27.9 to 28.1mm (allowed to drop to 26.2mm with wear)
Will be interested to hear how you get on with these discs, if available. I spoke to some brake expert recently in Bahrain from the Australian V8 Supercars race series. He mentioned many people overlook the limitations of standard hubs; it's certainly something I never thought about before. After reading the information about these AP discs, maybe this will be a good solution for hub distortion problems.

OK, looks like we're in business. They do not do a strap drive system that will work for the Coupe, this is limited to later EVOs and Imprezas for the timebeing. However they do other floating setups although not as advanced as the strap drive system. I am not intending any track day use (Silverstone thread has tempted me though) so standard 2 piece setup is fine for me.
Anyway, they do a 304mm x 28mm disc in either 8 groove, Tech 2 groove or drilled (not cast). Price for the 8 groove is £184.57 each and part no's are CP3580-66/67 (66 left, 67 right). Prices for the Tech 2 groove and drilled discs are £222.96 - I didn't write down part no's for these.
For the bells, around £70-80 each. They would need a new standard Coupe disc to be sent in so they could manufacture one accordingly.
As a side note, for floating bobbins setup, they only do an 8 groove disc in 304mm x 28mm and cost here is £229.16, bell again £70-80 and £40 for the bobbins.
All these prices exclude VAT. Off to do the sums...

What's the tech2 groove? http://www.apracing.com/car/brakedisc/face.htmAlso can AP confirm that we will just need to replace rotors when the discs wear out?

Good work Harry, but that is over £600 for the cheapest set up, excluding delivery ! The rotors alone will be more expensive than the price I had quoted for the bells/rotors from Tarox on the Group Buy (£399 all-in).
Having said that, AP Racing are obviously at the top end of the market, and I'm sure that they would be fantastic ! Are they looking for a minimum order number, or are you just enquiring for yourself?
