after the recent engine transplant and new battery and £50 in cleaning products im getting a bit sick and tired!!! i fell in love yesterday (again) with an integra type r!! ive spent £4000 buying the car 2 years ago and spent £5000 transfering it into a 300bhp show car! but i dont want to sell it!! i fell depressed in my little car world! if i was to sell, which i will have to one day i would want it to be a forum user as i would like to see the car and keep in touch! so dont be supprised to see it in the for sale section soon!!

What to do goose is pretend its overfuelling like a bitch and run base boost and dont go above 3000rpm for 1500 miles. Then magically tell yourself its fixed and go hell for leather and then come back on and tell us its not the car you want!! An integra is a slow straight line car in comparison.

i bought a fiesta turbo diesel today thats why ive got this dilema! it was a repo and i had it for £200 in order to make money but i thought id sell the coop keep the festa and buy something like an integra. but i dont know like i said im slowly loosing it!

Errr an Integra type R will give a coop a good run for it's money, standard integra's have been known to do 14.8 - 15.2 at the 1/4 mile
Your car is Usain Bolt with wellies

Back in 1998 I had the choice of a new ITR or 20VT and it was no contest for me ...
... ITR hands down.
Those high revs made me feel as if I'd been on a roller coaster and I could feel my heart and stomach vibrating inside. You either love or loathe the looks and I loved them.
But the 20VT is a better "grown up and sensible" fast car. If you want a car for YOU that you want to get a thrill every time you see a bend in the road, go for the ITR. Both great cars, but for different types of driver.
"Straights are for fast cars, corners are for fast drivers".

What a load of crap, Goose !!
ITRs are superb cars. But then so are Coupes. Why not get something completely different so you're not always comparing the two ?
FWIW I'm going through an "is-it-worth-the-hassle" phase with the Coupe right now - trying to keep on top of it is like painting the Forth Bridge - but I know that I will come round soon enough.

Completely agree with you. I have just gone through the is it worth the hassle stage and ended up changing to a Civic Type R. Loved the 20VT to bits but they are high maintenance timewise and I just dont have that time at the moment. Many on this forum seem to think that the only measure of a good car is straight line speed but most live in the UK where there are bends dear friends. For chuckability, cornering speed and quick direction changes the 20VT would not touch the CTR and yet the 20VT is far more enjoyable for cruising or straight line drag racing. Both completely different driving experiences and very much down to individual choice and types of roads on which one drives. Obviously the 20VT wins hands down in the looks department but CTR not too offensive if you squint

I'm going through the 'is it worth it?' stage at the mo, having just spent £1300 on the coop (and £200 not that long ago), knowing that I still need a service, minor bodywork bits, plus it's done 102k miles - so I'm waiting for something else to go - like the turbo.
I'm considering a mk1 mx5 for a cheap to run "evo 5 star" car...

they are common!
and around cardiff and surrounding areas they are deemed as a chav car!! i dont want to br branded one of them!!
besides my next beast has got to be a soft top! as ive always wanted one!! so im thinking and looking at m3 evo's!!
but im not ready yet! as im still in love with my coop and im almost there in the form of completing my project!!

GODDAMMIT !!!
Driving to work this morning, lovely clear (and cool, for here) day - no a/c required, cold air for the turbo do chew on.
Let's just say I'm back in
EDIT: I've actually read this thread properly now, and realised that Goose was referring to the CIVIC Type R as being the chavmobile, not the INTEGRA Type R. He's right - horrid cars.

What is a Chavs car?? I always thought it was standard car with bodykit, big stereo, big exhaust etc. added to give 'looks' over performance? How do you draw the line between this and proper tuning? Most 'Chavs' are unlikely to afford either genuine CTR or insurance so how come the CTR is classed as a Chavs car? Look at the design of the CTR properly and you can see that it was designed as a performance hatch as opposed to a standard car with performance bits bolted on. Come to think of it, what is a 'hoodie' and what would they drive? What is an EmoGoth and what would they drive? Things were a lot clearer in my day when we just had punks, rockers and mods

That's a lot of information you require !!
I think my dislike of the CTR stems from how much I like the Integra Type R - compared to that the CTR is something of a cynical marketing exercise. OK the CTR is not slow, but the ethos of the car is not right in terms of it being a Type R. - it should be a stripped-out lightweight special, not a normal Civic with bling alloys and some nice Recaros. Sorry but I don't agree with you saying it was designed as a performance hatch from Day One - in fairness, no hot hatch is really.
Trust me - when the values drop, the chavs will go after them like they would an offy giving away Benson and Hedges and Sunny Delight.
Think - "old-shape Impreza" (which I still like by the way, before I get flamed!)

Educate me Before this gets locked for going off-topic, I would be interested to hear what the CTR underwent in addition to what you would expect for any other hot hatch.

Don't worry Neil - I'm all done. Just wanted to share my depressing joy at how much I appear to kowtow to a turbo'ed 5-pot when my every sense tells me to get shot of it The CTR critique wasn't planned.

anyway im ok with my coop now as i said!!
i dont like ctr's for 2 valid reasons. one being theres two many of them on the road and on forecourts for them to be a desireable sports car! thyre probably on a par with the old escort xr3i when it comes to being common!!!! and like i said they are a boy racer car!! i mean my 18 year old cousin has just obtained one and thinks he cream!! that goes to show that boy racers can afford them! he aint exactly a full blown chav but he will be in a few months of ctr ownership!!
the integra type r is a much better car! the civic would be a good tool to own but they made about 10000 too many!!

Well, I think I'm slowly coming around to the idea of saying good-bye to my coop and try out a well sorted Mk1 Mx5 . After 5 1/2 years of coupe ownership I think it may be time for a change. The main problem is that I get overly attached to my cars, so it will be hard to say goodbye. I guess the good point is that I can always come back to the fold & try out one of these new-fangled 5 cylinder 20vt coupe models I just fancy something a bit different, more fun-handling than A road barnstormer. The fun part will be getting rid of my LE recaro's I reckon I'll wait until Winter is over before I contemplate selling.
