Remove your standard airbox...hehe...
Do a custom ram and mount the Apexi Filter to it...
I've got one of these and this is how i got it done.
If you're goin' to install it this way, you may well save some money on the adapter too.
cheers...

No, you need a silicon hose (straight coupling). Here is a photo of the standard route: APEXi Standard Or you can have it with the straight induction pipe (SIP) but this is with the FMIC: APEXi SIP

if you dont have a FMIC & you need to fit it in OEM air box’s location, you will need a 3" (76mm) 135deg bend (or 45 whatever you wanan name it) as per my pics here & here. OEM setup to compare BTW : I don’t recommend this mod !

Has anyone had a K&N induction kit on their Coupe and then swapped to the Apexi? I have the K&N, but was just wondering what the difference was, if any and if it was better than the K&N. As I already have the piping for the K&N, I should just be able to swap the filter cones over, but not worth it if there's no difference

I had a K&N, switched to the Apexi and then back again. I found the Apexi noisy compared to the K&N. The better filtering of the Apexi would have been nice though . Perhaps a larger Apexi would have been better - the group buy one was quite small.

Noisy, as in sucking in the air noisy? My K&N seems to be quite noisy sucking in the air, it has a loud sort of hiss to it. I don't mind noise, if it's nice noise

Yes. It sounded like it was screaming on full throttle, although I running quite a lot more power than standard. The K&N has more filter surface area than the group buy Apexi.

I think I may be swapping to an Apexi then, just as an extra little Christmas present

oh right cheers for that jimbo Quote:
Plus the foam types have a filtering oil which apparently isn't good for your AFM (same for the K+N) whereas the Apexi is a dry-type.
i was unaware of this pinin. i did notuice the last time i oiled the filter the car hunted on idle for a bit and missed when reved but then cleared. How does the apexi trap the debris then..

I've run the K&N and I'm now running the Apexi, to be honest I dont think you will notice much if any difference between the two. The K&N maybe has a slightly sharper sound to the air coming in but all you normally hear is the compressor spinning and no engine noise at all as you would on a N/A car. Save your money Theresa and spend it on something that will make a difference.
Cheers Jimbo, maybe I'll just carry on saving for a nice exhaust system then

As mentioned above, it's always a good idea not to risk yer engine by altering the mixture over time (clogging AFM). Go for non-oil filters, as the Apexi!
