If your car is fairly standard go for the GTEC1 chip, as the GTEC2 is only appropriate for tuned cars with FMIC and/or hybrid turbo really. It should give you about 20-25 bhp for less than £50

You might want to think about brakes and suspension as well, as you shouldn't really do the power upgrades until you know the car can handle and stop accordingly. Mintex or Pagid pads up front are good, and don't forget some good brake fluid (DoT 5.1). Suspension mods are a matter of much discussion, depending upon what you are looking for. Have a look in the tuning section for plenty of opinions
