I have seen this gtec chip on ebay- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GTEC-Fiat-Coupe-20...1QQcmdZViewItem
I am not sure if its any good, has anyone on here brought one from this seller and does it work ok.
My 20vt only has k&n induction kit, and want to know which chip is the best, gtec1- gtec 2 or the novatech chip. I will eventually get a cat back 3" striaght through exhuast.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ash

For your car you would be best off with a gtech1, which that chip claims to be, but you would be better off getting it direct from GrahamL on here as he makes them and sells them cheaper than that one on ebay, his ebay name is traumax.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, seems this guy has been selling copied GTEC's for a few weeks. Anyone know any details of the seller?

But yeah, Ash, if you want a chip just PM me on here.

Yup I've mailed him through ebay. I guess it must be someone from here , or at least who reads here, otherwise why would he call it Gtec?

Hmmm... he says he bought 5 chips from the "official Gtec supplier in South Africa" and is just re-selling them. Strange then that his listing text is almost identical to mine and he's using the fitting guide link from my webspace.

Anyone know who this guy is?

This time of year the fmic isnt so important due to the cold intake temps. But the stock intercooler IMO is very poor at reducing temps...
A fmic is a do as soon as possible if your going to try to optimise the power from the engine..

I didn't make the fitting guide, although it's on my webspace. Think it was done by one of the German tuning companies years ago.

This guide was made by a guy called Urs. His Forum Name was Twain. He wrote this guide many years ago. Maybe some of you can remember him. Hi also made the famous Eprom Switch.
Thats always a problem, if someone sells stolen Eprom data. But we have to remember, that Graham did not write his own chip data, he just changed some of the data, made by another company. But who cares, the Gtec chip is great

But then again almost every tuning company works like that. They first copy the orginal manufacturers chip and modify a few parameters to increase performance.

Yes, 99% of all these tuning chips are just the original fiat/bosch data, only a few maps are changed. There are actually more maps changed between Gtec1 and Novitec than between a 20vt Superchip and the original fiat version.

at the end of the day, chips taste nice but are full of saturated fats, so try to cut down if you can.

Health warning over.

BTW, I've been running a Gtech 1 for a year and a half with no FMIC and have had no problems, but then my car is has done low miles and has an oil change every 6k miles. Boost at 1.1 bar currently, 1.2 bar max.

Sideways a LOT

Sorry to say, but I can't see this is very much different from GL and the Novitech situation

I think it's completely different. (Although I don't remember the GL/Novitec Issue ).

This person is using the Gtec Name to sell his chips and Graham has made a clear difference between his chip and the Novitec. Althought the map was used as a guide, it was never the same map.

If they are Gtec chips he has bought, used and is selling on then its his property to sell and advertise using the brand name I would think.

If its a copy of a Gtec chip, one which is protected by copyright etc... and he is passing off as a genuine Gtec and not a copy of a Gtec then that is wrong.

If theres no copyright in place to protect GrahamL I dont know what he can do about it? Someone here must have some legal knowledge regarding these issues, it would be interesting to know...

Thanks, i'll just reply now.

At least this guy on ebay has made me realise I should list my chip as "Gtec" on there, I never did before 'cause I thought no one would know what that was.
