6k? No chance. Sorry, but you've not a prayer of getting that.
5k, tops. I'd be amazed if you got more. And I work in insurance.... I hope I'm wrong though. How would I replace my car like for like with £5000

The problem is Glass's dont value the plus at much of a premium over a 20VT, but in reality people will pay much more. You do need to get evidence to show this the the company

Dunno why but when you've seen a car in the flesh it makes it kinda sadder when you hear it's been written off. Really sorry to hear the news - agree with Pag, obviously the best colour . I'll keep an eye on the thread. If you or Carl end up in possession of it I may well be keen on liberating a part or two.

This is worrying for Adder and others who have Plus cars including me as I have just bought one. The book price is much lower than I paid for mine and I've put £6K on the value for insurance. So if I have a bang and the car is a write off then I loose money straight away. This does not seem fair so is that the penalty you have to pay for owning what is becoming a fairly rare car.

In fact there are three Elec Blue plus on 'trader at the moment, 6.5k to 7.7k. And to completely rubbish my above statement, a Moon Grey one for £4950... Tell me about it - electric blue pluses are like buses at the min I was thinking about putting mine on there, i'll leave it for now though. Martin - as said, gather some evidence together of higher mileage pluses & what they are up for, that will add to your case Then come & buy mine

Would it be possible to except the offer, but on the premise that you take the car back at the same time. And then spend that money yourself, sourcing cheaper parts, etc to get the car properly repaired? As you said yourself. Insurance co. quotes £400 for an IC, you can get one for £15, so it stands to reason you could do the rest of the repairs at a cheaper price than envisaged.

I have asked them to make me an offer to include the coupe. So see what comes of it. But to be honest I would not the time or space to take on such a project Unlucky Pag But I am in the market for a private plate... I will be selling the T20V FC ( Fiat Coupe). if you are interested. Or is this a tongue in cheek comment from another post;)

Typical Here I am trying to state in my letter that this car is quite rare and hard to get hold of. Then 5 turn up for sale at the same time

They're still desirable Adder.
I was offered £7k for mine by a random bloke at some traffic lights in York this morning. I told him it wasn't for sale. He said he'd always wanted one but couldn't find a good one anywhere, before telling me I was a mug for saying no to his offer.
If he'd made it a couple of months ago when I was sharking for a Cerb it might have been a different story.
No regrets though.
Pluses and LEs are the most desirable and rare models even now. As sh1te drivers wipe them out like they have Adder's, they'll only get rarer, which won't do the prices any harm.
IMHO

Is it worth getting an agreed value policy for the Plus? I presume the insurance company agrees a value with you at the start of the policy and pay that amount in the event of a total loss?

Yeh he's been to the wrong bodyshop.
They all fold up the same, ive done so many with that damage. I could tell you exactly where every crease would be and exactly what it needs without viewing.
For £4000 we could have repaired it and without doubt to a far superior standard to whoever has run such a stupid quote.
Now time to find out what cat its going to be, possibly a B with that estimate and you'll need a miracle to keep a B.

these bodyshops that quote such crazy quotes are plain silly, as they will end up loosing work with small jobs like this that could be done for about 1/2 this amount... fcuk, for £7k, you could reshell the car for that ! pure ripoff arena

Could you not re-negotiate with the insurance company based on Carl's quote and get them to repair it?
Would also cost them quite a bit less.

Yeh he's been to the wrong bodyshop.
It's the one the insurance guys told me to take it to. If I hadn't I wouldn't of had my nice A160d merc to race around in . Need to change, it's starting to feel quick I have written to them to say I won't accept the settlement quote. So see what happens from there

Ive said it before and ill say it again, if the other party is to blame dont bother with your own insurance co at all as it just wastes time Sorry to hear about this though matey it really sucks. Id be saying ill accept if you include the car at the settlement price and then ship the stead upto carlt for when he is better and buy somethign cheap to runabout in for the short term on a dayinsure policy instead
