Just broken down in the Coupe, pulling out from McDonalds drive through and all power went and the red light of death came on \:o

I was having visions of a total engine catastrophe, as I was saying to CarlT the other day how my car is 'mechanically perfect' and he told me to get hugging a tree (touch wood), but it ended up as a typical italian electrical fault, break in the cable going from the alternator to the battery light on the dash so the alternator wasn't charging...

Got the AA out and it's not all sorted, bought a new battery and alternator when I didn't need to though...

At least its not a dead engine, PHEW.

Glad it wasn't a major issue Dean but I'll bet you were scunnered (Scottish word!) when you discovered that you didn't need the battery and alternator?

I guess, looking on the bright side, that's two bits you don't have to worry about \:D

Have you checked the oil? \:D

Aye, but I won't criticise him, he's spot on the money every time.

And he's not well \:\(

You must be dead chuffed though that you it wasn't a major issue, the coupe paranioa must have been awful until they found the problem?

As soon as I lost revs, my heart was in my mouth, most of the time I drive without the stereo on anyway to listen for knocks or bangs, i'm THAT paranoid at the minute, don't know why, because its never broken down on me in the 6 months i've had it apart from the alternator (and it wasn't even the alternator!), never not started, laboured or missed a beat... its reading posts on here that does it!
